Can't believe it, I swore of BioWare and buying a game new from them but.... DA3 looks stunning. Everything about it does.

Thought I'd share. I think it will be the best game of 2014 and the best BioWare game since ME2, there's something about it. I think it's the beginning of redemption for BioWare.

See you in Thedas.

Well, I meant for Inquisition, because DA2 really disappointed me.  I've been riding the BioWare hype train since Baldur's Gate!  :)

What changed my opinion the most wasnt just the game (the game looks amazing though) but the fact that Bioware have improved ten-fold in interacting with the community.

For many years it felt like there was a wall between Bioware and the fanbase with Alan standing in the door talking to us and relaying messages.
Now it feels like we are all sitting in a cozy bar together.

The convincing wasnt in making games (they made some mistakes, everyone does - it is human - but they always made great games) but the community management and communication.

The devs has been alot on twitter, interviews with fans, on the forums and showing us stuff on twitch and on conventions. I know this is a big part of marketing (Im cynical :P ) but it comes across as real.

I feel Bioware is more humble, more in touch with the community, and is more in touch with their fanbase. This means the most to me atleast. Not alienating the fans, but communicating with us.

I've been on that train since I got to the end of DA2 and wished for a sequel :P

Y'know, coming on the BSN, I'm pretty astonished at just how negative people are about this game.  There's rage over hairstyles, rage over romance options, rage over tiny details of the UI.  Screams of how it's the worst game ever, demands to be able to harvest the body parts of Advisors! and all sorts of other, assorted disturbing nightmare fuel.

Thing is, just the parts we've seen of it would be worth the price of admission for me.  I'd shell out that money just to play that Avvar mission and Redcliffe missions from the trailers, even if it's downhill from there :)

And I doubt it will be, because I've played three Mass Effect games and two Dragon Age games, and not one disappointed me.  I loved them all.  Precedent is the best guide for this kind of thing, and the precedent is that BioWare makes awesome games.

I think the thing that astonishes me most about them is the care they put into their craft.

The Dragon Age series contains all kinds of historical references that only make sense to a student of medieval and early modern history (the Great Schism, the Holy Roman Empire, the Hanseatic League, the 100 Years War, and court of Louis XIV all have their mirrors here) or folklore (Tam Linn/Tamlen, Morrigan/Morgan Le Fay, the old idea of the goddess sleeping with the hero to birth a god, medieval demonology).  They must know that 90% of their fan base won't get it, but they do it anyway, and seem to love those cultural easter eggs.

And then on top of that they craft psychologically realistic, complex, interesting characters more believable than you'll find in 99% of media, likely knowing that the BSN will only care about their hairstyles and romance options :P

And on top of that, they weave together awesome gameplay, which people will complain is too fast/too slow/too hard/too easy/too stylized/too ugly, and about which the PC users will complain they're reduced to merely a *console* number of hotkeys with the plebians.

I honestly don't know how they keep morale up with a fanbase like they've got, but I'm glad they do :)

I've been on the Bioware hype train since Baldur's Gate 1 and have never got off it. I enjoyed even DA 2 and ME3 despite their issues. You youngins are all late to the party in my eyes. *says in grumpy old man voice*

I have noticed a lot of negative response to this game as well. But seems as you said over hair and other things romance etc.  I guess I can understand people not wanting to trust bioware,  due to the hate for DA2 and then the endings for me3, But I found them too to be very good games , and even was fine with the endings for me3 . So far bioware has put out my most favorite games so far , and hope they continue to build great games. I sadly haven't played Baldur's gate tho :(  But DAI cant come out fast enough for me :P

Original Poster I was just like you.  A year ago my girlfrend showed me a piece of concept art of Morrigan in a gown, and some screenshots and i was like "uh huh whatever."  Mind you I never played the ME series, but did play Baldur's Gate 2, NWN, KOTOR and DA:O.  What turned me off originally was when EA purchased the company, I went "all great now EA got their greedy hands on my favorite rpg company."  Then when I heard how terrible DA2 was and how EA rushed production, and add to that the reception from ME3 fans.  I was done with BioWare. Fast forward a few weeks ago my girlfriend and I are discussing upcoming games and she mentions Inquisition again,  so I decide to look it up and read about it.  I was pleasantly surprised with what I both saw and read.  It seemed BioWare had learned it's mistakes and EA gave them an extra year of development.  So first thing i did was read up on companions/advisors and there are a few I'm looking to meet Cassandra, Leliana, Josephine, Dorian, Varric and Ironbull.  Reading up on them got me more enthused about the game.  Then I saw some trailers and I got more and more eager for the game.  Now everyday I come here to read the latest news and subscribed to a few youtube channels.  My girlfriend and I discuss the game on a daily basis, we both have access to the Keep too. lol  So yeah this game looks and sounds great.  I really am looking forward to this, but first I need to custom make a new pc to handle this beast, just waiting on the system requirements first.

So in closing welcome aboard the hype train! :)

I managed to avoid the hype train until the twitch CC stream. Now...I cannot even play another game and enjoy it because I am wishing it is Inquisition. The 18th is too far away...

i admit i have been off the train awhile that i swore off pre-ordering their games and getting so excited for the launch.

I preordered for both DA2 and ME3 and was kind of disappointed.

But the moment I saw Morrigan, I can't help but to preorder it.

Initially I was skeptical of the keep, but after previewing it as a beta-tester, it looks so amazing!

i cannot wait for this game.

Okay, I am offically on board again myself ... well, not that I was really off though ... but after ME3 I was quite fed up with Bioware. But even back then I had high hopes for Inquisition, yet stayed away from all forums and news about the game, so I wouldn't burn out on it too soon.

But now I am feeling ready. At the moment I replay DA2 (and its far less worse than people often make it to be), and I cannot wait til that Dragon Age Keeper will allow me to meddle around with saves/background-stories etc...

Also the Character-Creation looks quite nice, an I already see me spending hours creating the most perfect char before I even play a minute of the game.

Now all I hope for is Bioware don't eff this one up. The Dragon Age world is so great, I love it. The NPCs so far were all memorable, I love them (except fan-favorite Morrigan, could have done without her actually...). And if this game holds up to my expectations I will gladly defend Bioware against the masses of elitists, rose-tinted nostalgiatists and CD-Red Fanboys (though its a great company, but it starts to get a bit on my nerves that they are viewed as the new messiahs...)
