I've been on that train since I got to the end of DA2 and wished for a sequel
Y'know, coming on the BSN, I'm pretty astonished at just how negative people are about this game. There's rage over hairstyles, rage over romance options, rage over tiny details of the UI. Screams of how it's the worst game ever, demands to be able to harvest the body parts of Advisors! and all sorts of other, assorted disturbing nightmare fuel.
Thing is, just the parts we've seen of it would be worth the price of admission for me. I'd shell out that money just to play that Avvar mission and Redcliffe missions from the trailers, even if it's downhill from there
And I doubt it will be, because I've played three Mass Effect games and two Dragon Age games, and not one disappointed me. I loved them all. Precedent is the best guide for this kind of thing, and the precedent is that BioWare makes awesome games.
I think the thing that astonishes me most about them is the care they put into their craft.
The Dragon Age series contains all kinds of historical references that only make sense to a student of medieval and early modern history (the Great Schism, the Holy Roman Empire, the Hanseatic League, the 100 Years War, and court of Louis XIV all have their mirrors here) or folklore (Tam Linn/Tamlen, Morrigan/Morgan Le Fay, the old idea of the goddess sleeping with the hero to birth a god, medieval demonology). They must know that 90% of their fan base won't get it, but they do it anyway, and seem to love those cultural easter eggs.
And then on top of that they craft psychologically realistic, complex, interesting characters more believable than you'll find in 99% of media, likely knowing that the BSN will only care about their hairstyles and romance options
And on top of that, they weave together awesome gameplay, which people will complain is too fast/too slow/too hard/too easy/too stylized/too ugly, and about which the PC users will complain they're reduced to merely a *console* number of hotkeys with the plebians.
I honestly don't know how they keep morale up with a fanbase like they've got, but I'm glad they do
