If even Tevinter gets one, then the Templars deffinitely should.

This thread is here to celebrate all the glory of the Templar Order, holy knights and protectors of common folk and mages; hunters of maleficar, cultists, demons and apostates; wardens and guardians.

The Templars, along with the Seekers, were once known as the Inquisition. They upheld order and combed the land in search for all dangers to humanity, in whatever form they might come.

Who of you wants to follow in the footsteps of the first Inquisition?

Who wants to wear the most stylish armor in Dragon Age?

Who wants to fight mages with awesome anti-magic powers?

Now let's take a look at the sexiness that is the Templars:

I've always liked the Templar Order.  In spite of the flaws exhibited by specific individuals, the concept is sound and it's hard to deny that the Order plays a vital role in keeping the continent safe.  Considering the many hindrances that go along with magic in the Dragon Age universe, it seems reasonable that some group would rise up to maintain peace.  I'm taking a break from this for my first run of DA:I though... I'm leaning more towards mage atm, but even if I went back to my warrior concept, he was going to be a Champion, not a Templar.  Human Templar will be my second character, however.  As you say, the armor is just too stylish to resist for long...

Sure why not? Just don't go Anulling any Circles for blood magic because a mageling scraped their knees playing tag in the tower.

Blessed are those stand before the corrupt and the wicked, and DO NOT FALTER!

I have to say that while I pretty much exclusively play mages in DA games, I have always loved the Chant. I kind headcanon that a lot of the Templars recite the verses in battle, either in their head or verbally.

One of my favorite DA2 lines was when Meredith said those immortal words before beginning the final battle. That was such a great scene.

What happened in Kirkwall went well beyond that... the Templars don't just Annul Circles for fun (although I'm sure some of them enjoy it...).

That's not how Blood Magic works. A demon still has to help you, which means you aren't as strong as you claimed to be. Circles also aren't annulled because of one blood mage, so this didn't make sense anyway.

I don't think tag is allowed in the Tower. I'm pretty sure some of the Templars and Senior Enchanters would get Cross.

But I'd also like to request the same when it comes to papercuts, handling tomes for days on end, the last thing we need is for the templars to panic anytime anyone asks for a bandage.

Wow, you templars need a drink and a trip to a brothel. No wonder recruitment is at an all time low. It was a joke good Sers.

I figured as much, but this thread will undoubtedly go "mage vs. Templar" at some point, so I thought I'd get ahead of that... xD

The Templars are pretty decent folk when their not being lead by crazy people. Same goes for mages and most real world governments now that I think about it.

Hell yeah, support for the Blessed Sword of Mercy.

The Templars are a force that is needed on Thedas to combat the pestilence of uncontrolled magic and I am glad to see there are still Loyalist Templars kicking and ready to answer the call (The Enemy of Thedas trailer with Cullen leading them).

I'm sorry. Jokes aren't allowed by the Chant. It is the Maker's Will that I carry out and the Maker's Work that enact. Don't bring your petty humor into this thread, robe, or you will surely regret it.

Templars are a pretty awesome bunch when they're not overly extreme like in DA2. I hope both sides are presented fairly unlike the Geth vs Qurian debacle

Edit: Forgot to add that I'll ve siding with them the first time around

I am simply an envoy of Tevinter. I've journeyed here to enlighten you southern barbarians on how to effeciently counter dark magics. Collar me and you shall feel the sting of the Imperium's wrath.

/dies before he even finishes speaking.

On a side note: I wonder what Knight-Enchanters are? They're definitely Templarish if they serve in the Chantry's armies. Perhaps the ones who use phylacteries. I wonder because I plan on playing one. Every run of DA:I. Forever.

edit:  I'm not so sure what purpose Knight Enchanters serve.  I think they are soldiers, but I have no idea what circumstances would call for them to be dispatched by the Chantry or why they receive this kind of training in the first place.  Since they haven't been mentioned in the lore before now, your guess is as good as mine...

There are no just soldiers when you serve the Maker's Will. They also can't just be "just soldiers" because that would mean kings could requisition them, I doubt that the Chantry would give up its assets like that. They probably serve the Chantry alone.

I'd recommend editing the first post to include protector of common folk AND mages. Templars guard the people by putting down dangerous mages... But they also protect mages from superstitious and stupid commonfolk.

You know, that's an interesting theory. I also find it more likely that these mages fit more on the Loyalist end of the spectrum if they require special dispensation to learn the art of Knight Enchanter. Indeed, it would be cool if these mages were the ones that help the Chantry with tracking mages down and casting spells remotely via phylacteries.

Boo! Templars!

The wankers should learn from the KGB and Soviets and learn how to run a real police state. Bunch of amateurs.
