I need an end to the Mage & Templar conflict far more than I need the services of the disorderly thugs who continue to act in rebellion

Apparently Bioware disagrees considering it encourages you to pick a side for that express purpose.

I suppose there may be other options but i'd honestly be surprised if their was an option to engage both, i mean the Inquisition i doubt it would have the manpower to oppose both forces in their conflict, even after being weakened i'd suspect both factions would outnumber the Inquisition.

Are you going to employ that same method of thinking when it comes to the Orlesian civil war? Try to fight both? Because i could just about guarantee either force in the civil war could in all likelihood stomp the inquisition like a bug if they so desired.

Actually I apologise...should have put it in a spoiler even though it was mentioned a couple of posts above. My bad.

Nah, that's not necessary... I'm cutting it close as it is because I'm trying to wait for the rest of the skill trees to be released.  I have been avoiding a lot of threads (mainly the companion threads), but I know full well that I am at risk of being spoiled no matter which ones I open... this is a minor one anyway and I'm sure it's posted elsewhere already... It's no problem, really.  :)

Let's talk about Templar stuff!

From Inquisition:

The Dalish making deals with the Templars (and/or Red Templars) in exchange for the Dales?

Amusing, if my assumption is true.

You know what i think?

I think the Red Templars cut a deal with a clan of elves.

If we were to be realistic, there are plenty of (powerful, important) people who would be happy to see both sides put down, as well as the number of both mages and Templars who do not care to continue the conflict further. If an option to do so were to exist, I imagine it be a longer chain of tasks (with fitting consequences) than simply picking one side.

I don't see how one could employ the same method of thinking when the context is completely different. Yes, I would like an opportunity to go above the heads and/or behind the backs of Celene and Gaspard in order to secure power, but there is no logical basis in which the Inquisition would openly declare war on both sides.

Here is a random question that just came to me.

Are templars allowed to marry or do they take a vow of chasity? and if they are, could they have any marriage with a mage?

They can marry.

But it is exceedingly rare and the Chantry has to okay the union.

Same for Mages.

Since I heard class specializations will have more of an impact, plus looking at the human origins, I may actually like being a templar since it'll have in-game consequences

They do when you need their forces for an army.

:P

Then you can promise either one support and allow them to join, but to do so on your terms. If they don't agree to your terms, they don't have your support.

And it's quite possible that nothing beyond game mechanics would prevent me from waiting until both sides on exhausted on the field of battle before I came in and wiped both out, captured the surviving leaders, and force both sides to serve the Inquisition, unwilling and on my terms without any say from them whatsoever, if I build up my forces and let them weaken each other.

When it comes to war, Victory is the call, Victory is the goal, and if I claim victory, it will be on my terms, and nothing less than the complete and total surrender of my enemy will spare them. If they win, they get to set the terms, if I win, I do.

And before the Circle's split, some mages needed permission to even get in a relationship, let alone marry.

Magic is a cancer in the heart of our land, just as it was in the time of Andraste. And like her, we are left with no choice but to purify it with fire and blood. Stand tall brother and sister Templars. For we shall not crumble, and shall not fail. Our watch imminent. Our duty is sacred. Our sword guided. For too long has the Chantry pulled us from our full potential. With the Inqusition we shall emerge victorious. And we shall continue to do our job as protectors from all mages and magic releated beings. New circles shall be formed, and shall be watched with more stonish glare. Maker give us strength. Andraste guide our swords. VICTORY or DEATH !

Hey guys, I know magic can be scary but it can do cool stuff too. That's why we had the Circles, so Mages can get together and do cool things with magic. But something went wrong - not pointing any fingers here - and people are getting hurt because of it. So we gotta bury the hatchet and close this breach over us before the demons pouring out of it eat all of us. The Circle thing seemed alright in the beginning so why not go back to that when all this is done, maybe with a tad less zealotry from the Templars and power-tripping from the Mages? Alright? Okay, everyone gather around. On 3: 1,2,3, INQUISITION! WHOOO! Let's do this team!

What happened in Kirkwall went well beyond that... the Templars don't just Annul Circles for fun (although I'm sure some of them enjoy it...).

Tell that to the mages of the Dairsmuid which was annulled for no reason. Oh and don't forget all the remaining First and Senior Enchanters that where butchered by Lambert and the other templars and seekers. So yeah Templars would nnul a circle if they find a mageling with a skinned knee and not lose a night of sleep, you know since mages aren't people in their eyes.

They are not people. They are weapons, that must be used with caution.

Nonsense, the Circle os Darsmuid had it entire female population possessed by spirits and ruling more traditional Rivaini communities. And, at first, the Templars tried only to have them comply with the rules of the Chantry. It was only when the mages answered with lethal force that they called for the Right of Annulment.

And the only First Enchanters that died at the White Spire were killed in combat where many Templars fell as well. Not a single one of them was "butchered".

Tell that to the First Enchanter who tried to surrender without a fight and was killed anyway.

I have found this rather cool artwork on the timeline section of the dragon age inqusition site. It looks to artwork on a door, similar how in our world Cathedrals often had sculpture embeded into them. I thought I would share it with the templar fans.

That man died only because of Fiona.

There wouldn't have even been a battle without her.

Or are you going to deny that?
