But surely they had heard of Meredith by that point? Wouldn't they at least be extremely wary of the stuff? Hell, who the *expletive* thought it'd be a good idea to let their comrades turn into freaking behemoths?

Maybe They think this sacrifice is necessary for whatever goal they have. Or maybe they don't care.
It's possible that after they start assuming red lyrium they can't go back.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder what the source of all this red lyrium is? I think the reason that it's cropping up everywhere is due to the Breach. So that begs the question, where are the Templars getting the stuff and what made them choose to start using it? Hopefully not simple desperation.

The Chantry had monopoly on the lyrium trade. Cut of from the Chantry meant getting cut of from lyrium. So they found alternatives.

Which criminal organizations *cough*Carta*cough* would have been more than happy to provide.

As for why? They're junkies. Junkies who need their fix don't tend to care what color their fix is.

Once the first Behemoth broke down a castle wall, I am sure the Red Templars could see the advantages of having a few more of them around. And even if they had heard of Meredith, it wasn't widely known that her sword was comprised of red lyrium (it may not even have been the red lyrium, but the idol that drove her mad), let alone drove her mad.

The spec added spirit damage to mage enemies, and contrary to your statement the game was full of magical enemies.
Resistance to any spell effects
Cleansing said effects
Spirit A.O.E damage

Maybe you didn't know how to utilize it, but some of us did. I didn't care about the lore of being a Templar, especially when it added almost nothing to the story.

In DA ][ it got even better with silence and expanded A.O.E damage, and consider there were a **** ton of magical enemies in that game, it was one of the most useful specs.

He didn't know how to utilize it.. Templar was a beast spec

Ugh....dammit. I will be killing those idiots with a vengeance. And I pray to God I can prevent the good Templars from joining those morons.

Hey, the extreme end of the mages are summoning a giant fade-being that's going to destroy the world. The red templars are still playing catch-up here.

Extreme end. The Venatori are an extreme end of mages, albeit not representative of all. Just as the red templars are an extreme end, but not representative of all templars.

I meant that these extreme ends are actually working toward the same goal. At least going by the evidence that we have now.

Still means the red templars are playing catch up. Worst they can do is grow spikes and bash down a gate. Meanwhile their mage compatriots go "Aww, how cute. We just blew up an entire gathering full of mages and templars wanting to make peace and tore a hole in the sky to make it rain demons. You can thank us for the free red lyrium later."

At least they'll show that mages and templars can work together .

What if there was a red templar faction allied with The venatori from The start?

Considering how they can terraform the landscape with red crystals, I would not underestimate them so much.

And attract demons... and turn into Mega-Sith... and spread the crystals not unlike the Darkspawn corruption...

Do the Red Templars spread the red lyrium, or does the red lyrium attract the Red Templars?

There was nothing major outside spoiler tags that I saw (altough the one about Venatori and Red Templars working towards the same goal is borderline, IMO) I was just preemptively remiding people in case, for instance, someone answered Emperor's question.

Do the Red Templars spread the red lyrium, or does the red lyrium attract the Red Templars?

Both, certainly the former at the very least. The red Lyrium sprouts from their bodies (Meredith, Behemoths, Red Templars from the E3 demo) and in places where they have set up shop (Emprise du Lion, Villa storage room in Emerald Graves).

Note that this an educated guess formed by gameplay footage, not my actual knowledge of the plot.

Where did these new spoilers come from? Was there a new leak somewhere?

Understood.
The RT-Venatori thing is mainly based on The EoT trailer, I think. I assumed The ones under The venatori Dorian mentioned are The RT.

Seeker Lambert is generally thought to be dead right?

He didn't "vanish" (?)

Like he is listed/considered dead? Causality of the War.

Lambert disappeared before the fighting began in earnest.
