Of course it's intentional. Templars aren't even close to being as Socially Just as mages...

That's why they have to look like obvious villains......

If Bioware wanted, they could have easily removed an option to side with them.

But they didn't and thus, I'm hopeful about the way they were written.

They look better here but that shifty one is still around and I don't know about you fellas, but I wouldn't leave Bethany alone with him.

I wonder if The templar which seems to be a RT is a Spy for The RT. It seems every RT Has that red lyrium shard on The Templar's insignia (Behemots have them, and RT had it since PAX Last year).
The templar leader seems suspicious, but whoever is leading mages and templars is a s****y leader anyway, which won't have My respect.

Don't give them any ideas!

DA4: Those Dalish sure are awesome!

DA5: Darkspawn are people too!

DA6: Even though mages caused the main problem on this one it's not their fault... honest.

That would be rather conspicuous, wouldn't it >_>

"We need to infiltrate the other Templars. I know, let's send Phyll who looks like he could turn into a Behemoth at any moment. What say you, Phyll?

Grarblach gnaaaaaaa!

Templars couldn't recognize Hawke was a mage in DA2. Recognizing a shard isn't that Bad in comparison .
Seriously though, Maybe at that point of The story RT didn't start their attacks yet. Maybe they think it's just a kind of amulet.
also, I think What he has on his face his just blood, not RT transformation.

Well, it wouldn't make them look much better in my eyes either way.

Shock maybe.

For Awe you'd also need that Oh so "Trustworthy" looking mage lady to turn out to be utterly selfish and manipulative...

I just hope there will a possibility to make them to make peace exactly like the Geths and the Quarians in ME3.

I think Gaider himself said that he hated the fact that there was a peace option in ME3. If that is any indication, plus the fact that we are told that we have to side with one of the two, it looks like we won't have a peace option. Fine by me since I'll enjoy taking the Templars down a notch.

IIRC both David Gaider and Patrick Weekes felt the Geth-Quarian peace option was a cheat soo yeah I don't think there will be peace between the Masters of this World and the templars.

In Dragon Age Origins we could:

let a group of elves be sold into slavery/ sacrifice them in a blood magic ritual to power ourselves up

Let a kid get possessed to get more power

Kill an entire dalish clan with werewolves

Abandon Redcliff and let everyone there die

In Dragon Age 2 we could:

Let an insane serial killer live who would no doubt go free and kill some more

Allow somebody to get possessed for power

Sell Fenris back into slavery

Agree to kill mage supporters instead of simple apostates

Don't think that just because you can side with them that they are a good choice. After all, even the devs admitted that they went overboard with the evil mage stuff in DA2 so don't expect as much of that against the mages in DAI. Furthermore, it seems like siding with the mages is made the "good" choice in both games. Don't forget how Lambert is the ANTAGONIST in Asunder which seems to favor the mages. Hence, it seems like mages are considered to be the "good" choice.

I can only hope they don't repeat the Geth-Quarian choice, it was a total cop out and took away all the moral conundrum for me since i knew there was only 1 right choice and 2 bad ones.

Adrians scheme is simply proves how incompetent the templars are. Lambert had all the tact of an elephant and played right into Adrian little scheme.

If anything this only proves that the current templar is simply not worth maintaining. the thing is that i endorse the circle system but i not with idiots like the templars.
the fact is the inquisition is basically correcting the mistakes of the chantry and templar order. they knew that their was large amount of demons beyond the veil and they did completely nothing to prevent it or make preparations for it. then your simply asking for trouble.

And what we have seen from the red templars it seems te templar order is even more susceptible to corruption then the mages.

Not really since the Red Templar are not affiliated with the main Templar group, the a splinter group.

Comparing them to regular Templars is like comparing Tevinter mages to regular mages.

Tevinter mages are in fact regular mages as Tevinter part don't rly affect mage part.

That is the impression you have. I, for one, have always believe the games and books presented the issue in a very neutral light, allowing us tp pick who is wrong and who is right ourselves. If that continues in DAI, I am content.

After all, you may look at Meredith and see her presentation as evidence the mages are "the good choice". However, I can look at Grance and say the opposite, the Templars are the good choice. After all, even those who trust mages, Thrask, end up dead by their hand.

Once, Ser Alrik approached Shifty Templar and asked him to join him in his attempt to make all mages Tranquil and Shifty Templar answered:

"Hast thou forgotten thy vows? I shall report thee to the Knight Commander!"

But just as Shifty Templar was rushing to do so, he noticed an orphanage on fire. Unconcerned for his own safety, Shifty Templar rushed.

Unfortunately, just as he was done saving all of the children, Shifty Templar was struck by a falling beam which left him in a coma. When he woke up, Alrik had already been killed by Hawke.

Shifty Templar is the hero Thedas needs.

God I hope they dont turn the Mage/Templar war into a boring Good vs Evil conflict.

It would completely miss the point of both sides.

The reason Shifty Templar has a Red-looking Templars by his side is because Shifty Templar believes that no one is beyond redemption.

MAKER BLESS YOU, Shifty Templar!
