Hi Everyone,

As we're sure you're all aware, there has been a leak this morning of some of the pages from The Art of Dragon Age: Inquisition. We'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that this is an unreleased book from our partners at Dark Horse, and that posting of any unreleased scans or images from the book constitutes an act of piracy and a violation of our terms of service.

We have a zero tolerance policy for this sort of thing, so please refrain from posting any links or referrals to this content on these boards. If you have posted something already, please edit your post to remove any links or images.

Our moderators will also be deleting all instances of images or links to the leaked art book on our boards, and repeat offenders from this point onward will be dealt with as outlined in our TOS.

And besides, there are some potential spoilers in there, and we don't think it's fair to ruin the fun of playing the game for your fellow BSNers.

We appreciate your help and consideration on this.

Regards,

The BioWare Community Team

Is it technically piracy if the people were sent the books by mistake?

The people who have the books are not in the wrong for owning them, however, it is an act of piracy to scan and upload pages from the book. This is why we are asking people to please not share these pages on our boards. We understand that you guys are excited and interested in this stuff, and that's awesome, but we can't have you posting this stuff here.

From what I've gathered , and I may be wrong some Dark Horses partner sold the book to a couple of people.

But even if people own the book legally , they do not own the copyrights , so I think  publishing pictures is illegal.

Oh and by the way , it seems on some Amazon site the Kindle version of the book is still released on October the 7th.

Maybe it's a mistake and they forgot to  change the release date like they did for the material copy?

When something wents terribly wrong
It is surely Russia's fault

Oh, quite the rhyme i see.

On a serious note - i am ashamed. I had no idea there will be that artbook there. It's pity i decided not to come to Moscow this year. Guess there will be a lot of hate towards my country now. Can't say it's undeservedly. But still, shitty feel.

Oh, and i just remember - that huge spoiler leak on ME3 originally came from Russia as well.

If i had a copy of that artbook i wouldn't scan it nor would i spoil anything to people. Because im lazy and because... that's not right after all. But as sure i am about myself, i am not sure that all people will do the same. In fact - there will always be some dudes without heavy thinking who will upload such things. Not to sabotage Bioware, but to share their findings to the fellow fans. And im not just talking about Russia exclusively, btw.

Will the posting of scans for the purpose of debate or commentary after the official release of both DA:I and The Art of Dragon Age be permissible?

Huh, I hadn't actually heard of this yet. Damn shame, I always hate to see things like this happen.

I think that's still piracy. It's like uploading chapters of a book to discuss

I was hoping it was ok. Comicvine allows scans of issues for discussion. But BioWare has a different policy I guess.

You would probably be fine sharing the images Amazon shows as previews. They might have a different policy after release.

People that ordered that artbook and got it early didn't know about the release dates (at least, not all of them). Most of them didn't post the scans of an entire page, just a photo of a small part of the page. They were not told that they can't share this information, so I believe the guilt is on the publisher, who not only started selling artbooks for advertising themselves, but didn't even warn people that it's their own initiative, not the official release. Now the publisher panics and threatens to sue the people that bought the artbook, if the publisher is to face the consequences from Bioware.

Will posts made revealing spoilers from the images be deleted? I'm very nervous about running into spoilers, linked or not.

Makes me so mad that all down on Russia. Blame the publisher, it is not known whether he generally has the right to sell artbook before the game is released. Before writing Russia is to blame, think once his head - I think only we have this happening? You may recall the series of the third season of Legend of the Korra, which merged in the network in Spanish? Or posted online pictures of celebrities? Such precedents happen everywhere. Enough to blame my country.

It's a shame that it's all happened in a first place. But let's be honest, such thing could happen in any country. Not just in Russia. I hope that Russian Publisher will think twice from now on if everything will end peacefully.

The fact is that the conditions of non-disclosure are desribed inside artbook itself and peopIe know about it only when they purchased it because the publisher did not tell a word about it(in truth they mustn't but it could be a wise step to remind people about IP, piracy and stuff). I do not justify leakers, but publisher just fcked up for a bit with service.

It is all about the human factor that leads to legal consequences. Both sides are responsible(leakers and publisher), but reaction of the publisher is not very professional for now - CMs are now in rage on social media, swearing that they put everyone who leaked some parts of artbook on judge for it and then they closed comments(so no feedback is available) and stop selling artbooks until the release. It looks kinda childish and strange(except the last point with seliing). I really hope they will get their crap together and start acting with cool head to fix this situation.

True. If that happened at another place it would be the same because fans are always fans - no one would sit and wait with such lore source without sharing a glimse with some friends/socials. It's human factor(again) and it is obvious.

Well, I do not see that there is really heavy anti-Russian posts...

Lets not start jumping up and down all over whole countries because an accident happened.

Lets remember we are all fans where ever we come from and stay brothers and sisters in love of Dragon Age.

The one thread that was deleted was actually pretty civil.  Many of the posters had spoiler hiding in there comments.  But I understand the piracy part.

I ran into a major spoiler on tumblr that wasn't tagged. I'm really upset about that.

I'm so sorry, some people are jerks. :( I wonder if I should just start my media blackout now...someone wrote something in the Twitter thread that I'm not sure was a joke or not, sigh.

Thanks for the heads up.  Hmmm...<.<  >.>  now the matter of looking for those spoilers or trying to avoid them.  Decisions are hard and junk!   Either way if I do succumb to temptation I won't be posting anything here.  :D I have way too much respect for both BioWare and the people who want to avoid spoilers.
