With games like Dragons Dogma and Skyrim, i was hoping to make a beast of a human warrior in Dragon Age. as a muscular dude, its lame trying to play,or get into the story, of a rpg where the main character looks merely average.....or less epic than myself. seems to be a theme for bioware's games.
why cant we change muscularity?

Clipping and animation issues I bet. Its hard enough to animate characters to make it look like they're really interacting with the world, but when the size of the character changes so drastically in so many ways for each race/gender it becomes more difficult.
Skyrim had some pretty wacky low quality animations.
Dragons Dogma had some cutscenes, but nothing too detailed. Usually just shots of the character.

Id give you a like for referring to yourself as epic but I'm fresh out, so have this pic instead.

Keeping on being epic.

I mean, I guess you could give yourself a REALLY meaty neck and then just cover your Quizzy in armor?

Easier to make armor if you only have 4 different sizes.

Hot damn, maybe you could introduce me to your circle of friends? ![]()
Edit: On topic, I'd take quality cut scenes with more physical interaction between characters over a musculature slider. Imagine if your PC had massive forearms and my PC's were twiggy, if a companion put his/her hand on the Inquisitor's arm one might clip and the other might hover. Too many variables, as someone said before.

Honestly my complaint is in the other direction.
Rough estimation, but back in DAO most male humans looked to be about 6'-6'2" and somewhere between 210lbs and 220lbs. That isn't average, that's pretty well built, and it showed. In DA2 they were about that same size, though not quite as defined.
I think that's a good place to have the warriors; might go for a little more bulk but not much. Personally, were I to make a human mage, I'd want them to be significantly smaller than that. A rogue, I'd want to be somewhat more lean.
And the female humans are way too small. I'd definitely want the option to bulk them up a bit before making a warrior. Something in the Ronda Rousey range.

Yea, that is not average. And if you think that is average, you are both very far above average and very much out of touch with reality.
I'd just go with very much out of touch with reality. Doubt OP has even seen the inside of a gym. ![]()

My only response to this thread is a question.
Who the flibberty gibbert actually refers to themselves as epic without being sarcastic? I mean I kind of get wanting to be able to change the build of the PC but that is so far down my list of priorities its not even on the radar.

So... you want them to look like their stereotypes instead of fit individuals who do battle, travel and explore for a living? Don't know about you, but if that's my lifestyle, I'm probably not going to be on the lean of skinny side when constantly pushing my body like that.

I don't necessarily want them to be out of shape but I do want there to be a clear difference between someone who focuses on heavy weaponry and armor and someone who walks around in robes and carries a staff, or someone who focuses on more agile fighting.
You can still be in shape while being smaller and leaner than the standard build they have for male humans in this game.

He can headbutt a Korgan and make him feel it! Not to mention if he can take a Laser to the face he is far above average. Not to mention who really needs to look like those Greek God sculptures Average is fine with me.

Id be happy with a female character that didn't look like a stick insect compared to her male counterpart like F!Shep was compared to M!Shep, even if it did cause the usual complaints from certain people who think a woman with any muscle looks like a man

The current answer is that when they decided on races, they also decided to value specific bodies for each of them, rather than body sliders. The idea was making each race more and more distinct.
A note: Each racial/gender combination has a different base body. 8 in all. Plus most companions have a differing base body than the Inquisitor. That's a lot of work to make sure every animation works. (Also why Bull was going to be race gated).
