They seem to keep growing in every subsequent game, so I was just wondering: based on the screenshots/gameplay/official art that we have, compared to other races how tall are the elves in DAI?

I think they're the same size as humans now. Which is a shame.

I bet this was done for animation reasons so the devs don't have to do extra work on the elves as well.

I hope they are shorter than humans... it shouldn't be that hard to get right.  They did it in DA:O, and that game was released years ago...  oh well, at least they can wear shoes now, so I probably shouldn't complain.

Aww. :(

My Hawke's gonna be sad that his tiny angry boyfriend grew half a foot.

I assume your going by the last super pic? The people aren't standing perfectly side by side they're all forwards and backwards from each other, so the heights aren't really comparable.

They've mentioned, time after time, that every race/gender combo has a different body shape and height. I'm willing to take them on their word. Thus... humans are taller than elves who are taller than dwarves. Qunari tower over all.

I guess I'm just wondering how much taller they are. Like, they've always been smaller than humans on average, but they were taller in DA2 than they were in DAO. I'm not sure if they're about the same height they were in DA2, or if they sprung up some more.

Well the average height for women in the US is 5'4 so i would suspect female Elves are like 5'2-5'0 Merril seemed that tall to me.

Well, as we can see from the group shot they seem to be as tall as human females at least.

Cassandra is way too short in this picture... I always thought she was pretty tall.

In fact, I think everyone in this picture looks weird... Sera is too tall, Solas is too tall... heck, even Cullen and Cole are taller than I would have thought.

If they pulled off a kissing animation for Iron Bull and a dwarf...i dont see why they'd get lazy with elves

The perspective is off in that picture. Look at the gameplay vids, Sera and Solas are both shorter then human characters.

Ah, thank you! I can't see the gameplay demos very well on my phone, so I can't really tell how tall they are. I hope you're right - I like the elves being on the shorter side.

Short enough to ride halla without looking like an adult on a Shetland pony, tall enough to rest their elbows on their dwarven lovers head to annoy them.

I think you're right... if that picture is at all accurate, hopefully the elven Inquisitor isn't as tall as Solas and Sera... that would kind of defeat the purpose for me.

I for one, prefer elves to be at least the height of humans, if not taller. Just my personal preference.

Like in Lord of the Rings?  I guess I'm just nostalgic for the DA:O version...

Tall slender elves are always better than short scrawny elves.

Male elves are as tall as female humans and a whole lot sphagettified.

I mean, the elves now look super skinny and wiry, the female elf looks as thin as Gollum. Contrast this with DAO where they did look thinner than humans but their body still had some flesh on them,

I guess the exact word is lithe but this one of the reasons, apart from their lack of facial hair that made me go :"Yeah, I am going with human this time around"

I like elves, I like playing elves, my favorite fantasy race is the Dunmer but with the body shape of elves this time around, I am going to go with humans.

The DA:O elves weren't scrawny... I don't recall a fan outcry for human-sized, noodle armed elves in DA:I either.  They should have just stuck with the old proportions.

a little pet peeve of mine in video games is that most characters are exactly the same height only differ between their own respective races.  I understand the manpower needed to adapt armor and animation for a human that is 6'2" versus one that is 5'6"

I personally would like as tall/a bit taller with a willowy/fae build, like say warhammer elves. I wouldn't care too much for LoTR elves, but they had the limitation of using humans actors so you know. And I certainly wouldn't want something like Warcraft elves which are basically buff humans with ridiculous donkey ears.

On a similar note, I'd also like more variation in the background/filler NPCs [ie: those where it wouldn't be cutscene issue]. Tired of every Tom, Dick and Harry being a 6'2' Adonis. So that even if they decide to keep some tiered heights for the PCs/main cast it at least wouldn't be ass jarring.
