Well I liked DA:O Elven model more than DA2's, what model did you like more?
(BTW, I like even more the DA:I model ^^)

i like both, but i think the ones in da2 were better than the ones in origins.
It's a bit tricky for me. The elves in DA:O looked like thinner, pointy-eared humans, but they tended to look pretty good, imo. The elves in DA2 looked.... different, I guess. The design worked with some elves (Merrill and Fenris, for example), but it didn't work for others (Zevran and Nessa).
Actually, it seemed like the Dalish looked better than most city elves in DA2. They weren't as... wonky(?), imo. Ilen, Marethari, and Fenarel looked pretty decent, but Pol (the lone city elf in the clan) looked weird. I suppose if BW had more time developing DA2 all the elves would've looked pretty good and not just the Dalish.
Overall, I'd guess that I like the DA:O style more, though the DA:I style looks promising.
DA:O hands down. I was not a fan of any aspect of the DA2 versions...
Like Gamer says, its kind of tricky.I agree that the ones in DAO looked like thinner humans with pointy ears but they did look good.
Most the elves in DA2...let me quote what others have said "kind of look like sheep" xD but I will certainly admit that it worked well on Fenris and Merrill.
But overall I think the elves in DAI look so much better then in the ones in DAO/DA2.They just look more elven haha.I feel like they are finally the proper elves for the Dragon Age world
I like the DA2 ones better.
I don't like elves being skinnier/shorter humans with pointy ears much.
you guys keep talking about the models in DAI, have i missed something? can you guys provide screenshots or something for the elf models, and not just sera, and/or like a human or something to compare them to?
Based off of what we've seen so far, (the elves in the CC ) I think that DAI's elves will be my favorite! ![]()
Between DAO and DA2....I must say, I really liked the female elf look in DA2 but I HATED the male elf look in DA2 ![]()
So I guess I'm really kinda neutral on the matter (Besides thinking DAI's elves are going to be the best
)
I prefer the DA:I look from what I've seen. Out of Origins and II I'd have to say the former. One, their height difference was more noticeable which is important to my 5'1 often in a sea of 5'5 and up self. Two, the faces. I think if more elves had the attention that characters like Fenris, Merrill, and Athenril received it wouldn't have been so bad...but when interacting with elves with Merrill and Fenris in the party it was like having a Feebas next to a Milotic.

It's a mix for me. I like how the DA2 models are relatively taller. I'm not a fan of playing as a short elf so I did not like playing as one in DAO at all. But face wise the DAO models looked better than the DA2 ones. I'm happy with what I've seen in DAI so far, the elves don't look that tiny and they're faces have improved.

Well, I suppose it is true that we're working from the assumption that the rest of the DA:I elves will resemble the ones we've seen so far, but most of the DA2 elves only vaguely resembled humans. Even Fenris and Merrill still looked kind of alien (mostly Merrill, but this is just my opinion ofc). Do you really think that the PC and party members will look that different from the rest of the elves in DA:I?
DA:O by far. I've never really seen what the problem is with pointy eared humans, seeing as that's essentially exactly what an elf is. No need to reinvent the wheel by making them all look weird.
DA:I looks to have the best elf design so far, tbh.
Well in most other lores that I'm intimate with elves are essentially slender, taller, pointy eared body-hairless humans, DA: O had a similar design save for the taller part(perhaps as some symbolism to elves being in an inferior social strata than humans?) so I loved that design as much as I love other lores'.
As for DA 2... the elves there looked like caucasian Navis from Avatar.. and considering how much I hated that movie... I won't get into detail on how much I dislike DA 2 elf design, too long and too boring, thank the Creators DA: I came up with an excellent design.

I'm not sure what mythology they come from, but Santa Claus's elves are pretty short... actually they are as small as dwarves, but less stocky. Like D&D Halflings, I guess? Um... anyway, that is one example of short elves...
Maybe Bioware took inspiration from them?
Oh, and Bosmer (Wood Elves) in the Elder Scrolls are short... however, the Altmer (High Elves) are much taller than humans, and the Dunmer (Dark Elves) are about the same height as humans...
But DAI seems to be a mesh of both arts styles
Not really.
They look like an upgraded version of DA:O.

Yeah, I don't see it either... that huge hump joining their noses and foreheads is gone, and the ears aren't as elongated. Those were the two defining characteristics that I noticed... well, also the abnormally large eyes, which are also gone. At most, they seem to be taller than they were in the past, but that's about it.

Bosmer can be as tall as humans as well, albeit it's a rare occurence. Also, now that you mention it Dragon Age elves do remind me of halflings, especially the city elves. Another thing I wonder is if the elves used to be taller in the past and their stature reduction came with their genetic quickening? Kinda like a symbolic fall (feeling a bit symbolic today, mind you).
EDIT: What would be ideal for me was if BioWare borrowed from TW2/3 style of elves. Those guys are friggin awesome, I'm eventually going to make a Iorveth..

That's an interesting idea... they are usually referred to as "magical" beings, and unspecified "magical forces" are responsible for their genetics being overwritten when they breed with humans, so that could definitely have been the case...

not exactly different but have more details than basic npcs

I don't think I'd mind if NPC elves were a bit light on the graphical details so long as they followed the same basic design principles as Solas and Sera... that's to be expected in a huge game like this.

i can't plan so easily, i'm so blow away with how awesome it is, i'm gonna have to read descriptions of places, and i need to figure out the gameplay resources (influence, army, etc etc.) before i can decide what i do and stuff like that.

lol... yes, well I might totally change my mind once I get my hands on the game. I've been flip flopping on the PC's class for months now, so I can't say for sure what I'll ultimately do... xD You're right that there is a lot to consider, and some areas won't even be easy to unlock since we will need Power to do so... but still, I'll probably gravitate towards certain decisions early out of curiosity. I figure, no matter where I go first, something interesting is bound to happen there... hopefully that doesn't include stumbling onto a dragon's lair. That would be a bit too interesting for the early stages of the game... o.O
I prefered the face of the DAO elves, but everything else about DA2's elves were okay with me, especially the unique clothing for the Dalish.
