DA:O by far. I've never really seen what the problem is with pointy eared humans, seeing as that's essentially exactly what an elf is. No need to reinvent the wheel by making them all look weird.

DA:I looks to have the best elf design so far, tbh.

This, DAO no question, the DA2 model was so unattractive and weird looking to me, just bleurgh.

I personaly would have to go with DA2...realy felt like the elves became more unique with their "less human" apperance.

That, and I am a sucker for big puppy eyes...I mean, I hope I ain't the only one hypnotised? :(

I know it may be unlikely to see her, but I'd like to see how Merrill's looks would change in DA:I.

My prob with the DA2 elven model was that for Fenris and Merill it worked well but for others... Dunno... OH MERRIL SHE'S SO CUTE THESE EYES FIT HER PERSONALITY <3

I have a feeling we will be seeing Merrill again in DA2 (or, it is just very, VERY wishfull thinking on my part). She will most likely have an intrest in the Eluvians, no matter what she did to her own in DA2, and since (it feels like atleast) the Eluvians will have a bigger role in DA:I, it is a big possibility we see her return.

That, and one developer did say that her fixing the mirror was probably a bad call...Doh! :pinched:

That's only because Merrill and Fenris had unique model faces, all the other Elves are ugly as sin or look like Freaks of Nature.

Agreed.  Merrill looks slightly odd from the side, but otherwise she looks nothing like typical elves.  Fenris looks even less like a DA2 elf since he looks completely normal no matter the angle...

There is a big difference between this:

Everyone wants elves to look "unique" and "unhuman" despite how they are s standard fantasy race with a standard design in the public conscious (just like dragons, griffons, etc), and despite how dwarves still look like your standard short, stout, often bearded humans.

I also find it off how people want the "not human-looking" DA2 elves, despite how the only elves that look half-way decent in that game are the ones that look the most human. (Merrill, Fenris, Athenril, and one other.)

Now which one you like more? Shianni... <3.... still, I liked more the origins one, elves are suppoused to look like humans with pointy ears imo and dwarves like drunken vikings, like it been said before

...Now in hindsight, I realised I may actualy have been hypnotised by Merrills puppy eyes.

While Huon is ment to look rather creepy, due to the blood magic and the "Kirkwall effect", I definatly see your point Teddy (seen that avatar for days...had to make a comment about it sooner or later  ;)). I personaly didn't disslike the Dalish elves that much, but some of the city elves do look a bit...odd.

And...Orana just looks...Ghastly  :(

The elves in DA:O were more of the traditional kind, which is something alot of people prefer. But...I kind of like that they took a bit of a risk with the DA2 elves, and went for something more unique. They are still simular to humans, and with pointy ears, but still different eanough so one don't need to constantly play a game of "Spot the ear in the hair"  :)

But I agree with you... I mean, not every elf in DA2 looked weird, but the fact that they were meant to look... different... allowed the artists to go a little overboard with some of them like (Huon, Huon's estranged wife, Orana, Pol, Marethari, etc...).  There were some who didn't look as exaggerated, but those were mainly the ones who looked closer to human (Atheneril, Master Ilen, the 2 Dalish guarding the camp, etc...).

Of course, who fits into which category is a matter of opinion... except for Huon and Orana.  I can't look at images of those two for long or I fear I may have nightmares.  xD

I don't get why people complain about Orana's appearance.  I mean, she was a slave.  She's not going to look like a super model.  Really, I viewed her appearance as being a result of her living her whole life as a slave rather than her just being ugly because of the DA2 design.

But yeah, as I've mentioned before, the Dalish elves tended to look better than the city elves in DA2.  Really, if the DA2 elves that looked the most human looked the best, then I would think that the city elves should look closer to being human because of the fact that they live in a human city.

Really, I think that if BW had been given more time with DA2, all the elves would have looked decent, at the very least.  It wasn't the design itself that caused many of the elves to look weird.  It was the lack of time for development.

Yeah, I know, but I was referring to the general dislike for Orana's appearance.  I wasn't pointing to anyone specifically.   :P

Slave or no, she's one of the worst looking elves in the game, so it's understandable that she gets brought up in conversations like this.  And since she can move into Hawke's house, players will probably see her a lot, so her face is going to make a lasting impression...

Also...

I don't understand this... how would living among humans influence the appearance of city elves?  They aren't shapeshifters, and any mixed breeding would just result in more humans...

In my case, I wouldn't call it complaining (atleast, I hope it hasn't appeared so) about Orana's apperance. She does look ghastly...but, it is understandable why. The life of a slave were undoubtedly hard on her, and with (what is most likely) too much cheap makeup, she doesn't become a representative of elven beuty.

I do also have to agree with the time limit leaving it's mark on the DA2 elves. If given more time, there could have been a lot of fine tuning on the faces.

But, the elves that do look good are still my personal favorites compared to the elves in DA:O, even if they look more "human" then the rest of the elves in DA2. It will definitely be intresting to get a proper look at the elves of Inquisition thou.

Um... you didn't know that?  o_o

Yeah, if you offer her a job (or just enslave her... :( ) she will move into the Hawke estate.  She doesn't do a whole lot, but she has a dialogue, some banter, and generally makes the place feel a bit less empty.

Oh, and to get this outcome, pick... "I can help you," I think.  Not the option to give her money when you first meet her.

Wait, so how do you normally resolve this?  Do you... do you tell her that what happens to her isn't your problem?  :crying:
