Who's complaining about Dorian being gay? Seriously, I hear this on BSN all the time. Except for a few comments in threads (out of thousands of comments I might add) I heardly hear this stuff. Beside this is the internet, everybody complains about everything.

Wait one minute, wat supposed privilege do straight male gamers have?

Straight white male gamers are almost always represented in any AAA game.

Gay gamers, female gamers, and PoC gamers aften aren't, and when they are they're often stereotyped.

Still waiting for you to show me one single comment in this thread calling all straight men and women intolerant dicks.

A developer should be able to make what ever game they want, if they want to market to "straight male gamers" then so be it. If Bioware wants to market to LGBT community then so be it. As long as a game has good writing/game play why do you get up in arms about it?

Why do people want to stifle a developers creativity?

But Bioware market to both straight males and LGBT gamers. What's actively wrong with being more inclusive?

I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to. I'm saying it's a bad decision, as it just widens the societal gaps between the majority and the minority.

They are. People are also able to tell them that their games are boring, simplistic and exclusive, and that a few minor changes would make them better.

It's called criticism.

I haven't seen it here but everytime I read article of the Inquisition there it is in the comment section as most voted comment or most recent one ^^; Maybe online game magazines have different kind of followers than how people in BSN are in general.

Creating a game in which the only important people are straight white males is the opposite of creativity, surely.

Oh dear.

These are the best resources I've seen. Here you go.

Oh, I should also add that privilege is often misunderstood. Nobody has a choice whether or not they have privilege, and it's not the same as calling somebody homophobic or racist or whatever (though the two often and understandably mix). So you can be super supportive of women and their issues and such but still benefit from male privilege because you're a guy. It's in the system and out of any one person's control.

But what your advocating is controlling someones idea. lets say If Rockstar wants 3 male protagonists for their game then why do you people get mad about that? That was *their* own vision for *their* game

If you're straight up refusing to read my answers, than I guess that means you don't really care about what I have to say. I'm guessing you've already decided these problems don't exist, aren't important, or you just don't care. I'll save you the trouble of clicking, though. This is from the Polygon article.

Sorry for the double post, but what you said is EXACTLY what privilege does. Nobody's trying to "control someone's creative freedom", but we're entirely within our rights to point out that it is pandering to one segment of the population. Criticism is not the same thing as censorship. Believe me, it's not the queer/female/non-white/disabled/etc... people who are being pandered to.

I think there was somebody in Jade Empire that was gay too, but I'm not positive. I didn't play that game.

I'm not advocating that, again I'm not saying we should force them to do anything.

However, with games like Far cry where so far in the series there have been 13 male protagonists and 0 female protagonists, you have to question 'why'. It's not a coincidence.

And then when you get into why you get into them thinking that men are more dewep or more appropariate x13 in all these specific circumstances for x y and z and they slowly show the sexism we all have ingrained into us.

Criticizing a game is perfectly allowed.

Do you think people should be prevented from voicing their opinions?

Because:
lesbian=sexy
Gay male=gross corruption of youth and morals

Though to be honest, I haven't heard any rampage about Dorian. It also could be that haters who wanted to romance Dorian and can't. Haha

Pretty much this. And there hasn't really been a rampage about Dorian here. But there are sites like gamespot that have articles that focus on the fact that he's gay for click bait and get a ton of hate comments, people swearing off Bioware because of the scary homosexuality, etcetc. As if gamespot commenters didn't swear off Bioware products already because of DA2 and ME3 and still make color coded jokes.

You are saying people shouldn't voice their opinions about sexism in the industry i.e. they shouldn't exercise their right of free speech. That is just as oppressive and constricting as what you say we wish on the sexist devs in the first place.
