Are you discontent that "beautiful" games get praised and high scores?

I am simply shocked that this game is receiving decent reviews... not that these "journalists" can be trusted.

Well.. there's something about the Alien franchise that makes people WANT to like anything associated. Maybe that's it.

Although from what I can tell, it's not as bad as other Alien games. They're at least trying something different than another uninspired FPS.

What I still don't know is whether the alien is actually smart or if there are hidden triggers that will draw it to your location.

Dude; it's NEXT-Gen! Of course the AI is smart. That's one of the main reasons for buying a... uh...

What were we talking about?

Making the alien invulnerable to weapons to keep suspense?

Can't say I like that.

Well, in the movies it took military grade weapons to kill them, so it´s coherent. And thus you can have only one alien instead of several. I´d like to see one game where you can kill one and then you have to deal with the others and with the decompression caused by the acid blood melting a hole into the space station.

Really loving the game so far. Have experienced some loading issues, but I'm on the PS3. The worst of which left half the map invisible on one of the later Alien heavy levels... But gave me a great view of the planet & space outside. The
Spoiler
flashback sequences were pretty fun. The only thing I don't like about the game is the crafting/equip system. It's clunky, & for whatever reason de-equips what your carrying when you look/build things... Which has led to most of my deaths so far.

Playing on hard, just used the reactor, haven't killed any humans, and haven't died once. Going for those achievements baby! Although it has taken me about 15 hours so far. Great game, loving it, loving Amanda.

That's cool to hear from fans. Maybe I'll get it sooner rather than later.

So, should I wait for a sale or something for this game for a good 10+ hours of fun?

Don't know about Next Gen or PC, but my PS3 some. I was kindof expecting some given that it's older gen.

I'm playing it on PC and it has a some weird issues with it's high end settings. At max settings it kept CTDing on me, but once I dropped my graphics settings down to high, medium range it ran perfect. A lot of users with high end PCs have reported issues like if you get more than 60 fps you won't hear any sound during death animations. Like I said, weird things.

 Gameplay wise it has been great so far. It is so nerve racking when you have no option but to hide under a desk or in a closet and the Alien is right next to you. You just never know if he is going to pass you by or check your hiding spot.

I don't know if I get that, but when Doom IV comes out you will throw Alien Isolation in the garbage can!

Now that is a true horror game!

That's what appealed to me at first.. that this isn't another shooter. Almost every attempt at an Alien game has been FPS. And they all sucked balls. Might as well try something different.

GameRant's review:

http://gamerant.com/...lation-reviews/

Alien: Isolation is not the game fans had hoped it to be, but it’s likely the closest to an authentic recreation of the movies that they’ll get for now. The sense of tension, the atmosphere, and that ever-present xenomorph are some genuine strengths, but the latter’s inconsistent AI and random nature is also a major weakness. Getting through the game is not only a lesson in patience, but it’s a barometer for how devoted one is to this sci-fi franchise. Those who hold the movies in high esteem will be able to fight through the clunky mechanics and confounding action sections, while others will likely find the struggle is not worth it. And we’re not talking on the level of a game that is good but not great, but one that flirts with mediocrity. Alien: Isolation deserves some recognition for coming close, but its failures make it hard to outright recommend.

3/5

Do you agree?

@mybudgee

Yeah I'd say it's worth the money.

@OdanUrr

I haven't finished the games story yet, but so far I'd give 8/10. Good game, but not a masterpiece.

Time to give up on "Alien" themed games, I think...

I don't have it and don't plan to play it but I've watched a few people stream it and I've seen my scaredy-cat stepbrother play it for a few minutes.  :lol:

It is a damn good game. Usually I agree with most of gamestop Kevin VanOrd's reviews, but he really dropped the ball on this one. IGN and Gamespot both said the game is TOO LONG. These reviewers don't seem to be able to relate to a paying consumer who expects as much bang for buck as possible, due to the fact that they get these games for free. To say a game is too long is absurd. Just stop playing if that's the case. I'm nearly 20 hours in and am just reaching the endgame (on hard).
