In Act 2, my Hawke ended up romancing Isabela, just by being nice to her after sleeping with her. My intent had been to play Hawke as a bit of a philanderer, but end up with Fenris. In any case, now that Isabela is in the wind, is there any way to get my Hawke together with Fenris, either in Act 2 or in Act 3? Or am I stuck with Isabela?
Romancing Fenris after romancing Isabela

All my attempts at romancing Fenris after Isabela were vain and I ended up loading a previous save before dating Isabela. It seems Fenris' character wasn't designed as Anders in this regard and that it is rather "exclusive" I would say. So, sorry for the bad news but I couldn't find myself a compromise.

Certain companions are very sensitive to whether you've had a relationship with other companions. And I'm talking as a matter of game coding priority, not characterisation.
If I recall correctly, Fenris (followed, oddly, by Isabela) is the most sensitive of the companions after Sebastian - ie, he is the most difficult to start a relationship with if you've already had a relationship with anyone else. Added to which, his romance is a little buggy anyway. So all in all, I'd assume your chances of getting his romance from this point are slim.
I'm pretty sure you'd be able to dump Isabela and hook up with Merrill or Anders - as long as it's still early enough in Act 2 for you to activate their romances. Or you could stick with Isabela.

I'm nearly at the end of Act 2. Only have Demands of the Qun left. I didn't realize I'd been locked into Isabela's romance since she explicitly says she doesn't want a relationship in that conversation. It's kind of a bummer. My Hawke is a mage and I was building towards a Mage/Mage-hater thing that would have been interesting. Isabela's fun but a relationship with her doesn't have that resonance.
So I suppose my only option is reloading an old save? Given how much I've played since then, the idea does not appeal.

I poked around a little more and apparently the key thing was to do Fenris' personal quest after doing his Questioning Beliefs quest. I didn't do that and I slept with Isabela. The other thread I found basically says no chance of my Hawke getting with Fenris now. Sigh.

You don't necessarily need to do QB before a Bitter Pill to romance Fenris. BP --> QB tends to be more buggy, causing the romance scene of Fenris coming to your house not to trigger, but for me either order has worked. It just changes the scene when you hook up with Fenris a little. If you do QB first, you can sleep with Fenris right after BP if you stop him from leaving. If you let him go he will return later, which is the same scene you get if you do BP first.
Sleeping with anyone after Fenris stops his romance, and it seems he doesn't appreciate a quick tumble with Isabela beforehand either. So, as others have said, it is safest to focus on Fenris alone if you want to end up with him. A way to check whether you've been locked out of his romance is see if you get the heart option at the end of his Act 2 QB. If there's no romance dialogue at that point, his romance is off.

I agree with you Ferretinabun! It was the most difficult romance to finish in the game. As for sensitiveness it is made clear from an early stage in the dialogues between Hawke and Fenris that he would like to be The choice and not one in many. He even asked if Hawke had anyone else in mind instead of sticking with him.
Oh, and I noted your remark concerning characterization and it must be so. All I wanted to point is that it wasn't possible unlike Anders.

You can sleep with all 4 and end up with Fenris. Here's a trick: do his QB A2 first and activate his romance, then sleep with Isabela and don't dump her afterwards (say that you want to pursue the romance, otherwise her romance will become bugged and needs to be canceled via console), then do a tumble with Merrill and Anders (in that order) and reject their request to move in, and only then complete "A Bitter Pill."
I'm sure it wasn't intended like this, given Fenris' characterization, but that's how it worked for me (PC v1.04).
PS. Be ready for a messed up dialogues and banters, if you do this.
