Will there be Jealously/Conflict between the Romance options? How will Bioware approach it given there are 8 options?

With the vast array of Romance options I am curious how Bioware are going to deal with Potential conflict between companions if you try it on with more than one of them. Especially seeing as each race & gender has at least 4 options regardless of the Player Characters sexual orientation.

A Male PC can Romance Cassandra, Josephine, Dorian & Iron Bull.   So that's 6 potential arguments

A Female Elf can Romance BlackWall, Cullen, Solas, Iron Bull, Sera & Josephine.    And here there is 15!

That's one hell of alot of potential conflict!

So do they have dialogue/party banter recorded for ALL of the... potential romantic entailments getting Jealous,Angry,Defensive,Smug ETC with each other & the inquisitor?

Not to imply that Jealously & conflict are going to be the case with all of them but I can definitely see Cullen being the Jealous type.

So that puts him at 5 potential arguments alone! Poor Cullen, his love life isn't getting any easier...

How do you think Bioware are gonna approach it?

Last I heard, pursuing a romance locks you out of all the rest... I think you can still flirt with NPCs, but there's no changing your mind if you decide you like somebody else later.  So there won't be any jealousy storyline...

There was jealousy and such in both Dragon Age games before, so there probably will be some here too. But I don't think they'd actually pursue a meaningful story or have a resolution to the jealousy, just side-comments from NPCs.

There probably won't be a jealously plot since depending on how far you are into a certain character's romance you'll be locked in and as you mentioned OP, the complexity of having multiple jealously plots might have been too much. All those times before when you were flirting everyone probably just saw your character as a playful flirt but nothing serious.

The real question is, once locked in are you stuck for the whole game and if you so happen to break up will that also lock you out of other romances or if some characters are still available at that point in the game can you pursue them?

I think I read that there will be jealousy, but you won't be able to continue romancing two characters. It's probably a 'hey I saw you flirt, pick me or them', which will then lock you out of other romance options. At least that was DAO's way to a certain extent. You could flirt with multible people in DA2, but in the end it did lock you out of other romances after the romance scene (unless you planned it just right and slept with everyone else before picking your final love interest. Whoops!).

Maybe it does lock your romance, but you'll still be able to harmlessly flirt and hear jealous banter. That'd be pretty nice.

Hum..I hope there is some kind of warning or a hint..or anything really , before you get locked out . I don't do jealousy stuff , I usually pick one chosen Li and stick with it . So I really..really..don't want to end up with a kaidan/Liara again , when all I wanted was Liara but kaidan radar was screwed

There are twice as many love interests as there were in Origins and limited resources.

Also, bugs. To avoid ninjamance nutter issues like this from DAO:

Leliana: Tell me the truth: were you with Morrigan?

Warden: What?

Leliana: Did anything you say to me mean anything?

Warden: The ****!?

Leliana: You have to pick between us!

Warden: No, seriously, the ****!?

Does that mean that I can't have a fling with The Iron Bull and then switch for my Dorian romance.

I only really wanted to romance Dorian, but i just have got to see how a Qunari man on Qunari man sex scene will go huehuehue

In Dragon Age 2, you could sleep with a second person, ending your first romance. Characters would act jealous in later banters, but there wouldn't be a confrontation like there would be in Origins. Perhaps something like that will be the case here. Maybe not, though. (again, twice as many romances)

The only time I did two romances at once was on my fem!Hawke playthrough where she flirted with Fenris and Anders. She had her romance scene with Fenris first, but once she got the romance scene with Anders, she broke it off when he mentioned Fenris.

But I agree. With eight romances, that is gonna be hard to do...

Also, this doesn't sound difficult at all. If Inquisition's anything like the previous games, banging someone was what started the romance. You should be able to get right up to that point with the Bull, watch the scene, and reload without really backtracking.

Or maybe not! i'm doing some p. irresponsible speculating

Holy cow that's a lot of romances!  But i am curious, when you say 'female elf' does that mean a female qunari or a female human won't get as many?  Is there racial lockouts I should be aware of?

Solas will only romance female elves and Cullen won't romance Qunari or Dwarves (or males).

It might just be a matter of how Mass Effect 2 handled it: which was just one romance would recognize another but not specific (except for a single line) and neither would continue until you break it off with the other.

Ah!  Okay thanks for that.  The character I'll be importing is a female dwarf.  Sorry Cullen!   :(

Ahem ... I'm an idiot.  I import the save not the character.  *sigh*  Not feeling well lately has my mind go blaaaaaaaaaah.

Yay Cullen!

Warden: (Persuade) Say whhuuuuuuuuuutt?

As I understand it, you have to actually flag your interest (you have to tell the game that you are interested in pursuing a romance) which will initiate romance content (see the GaymerX discussion of romances for this). Personally if I roll a male inquisitor I'd only really pursue something with Cassandra or Josephine so my potential for conflict is a little limited but I imagine it would work something like ME1 if you were pursuing both... Eventually you get a confrontation where you have to decide

Oh I hope so. When I get around to my eventual Cullen playthrough for the sake of the Achievement I want to get his achievement, then break his heart by cheating on him. It brings me joy to watch characters I hate suffer.
