I don't think here will be one, but I wish there was.
Do You Think Dragon Age Needs Another Class?

I for one, wish to have the option to play as a hybrid class if I choose to specialize in them. The class system we have is good at the moment.
Nightblades and Witchhunters are my favorite RPG class yet I cannot play them in Dragon Age. ![]()
There is no mage-rogue class. Me wants them !

I could think of one...maybe rouge and ranger. Splitting the rouge class up into a meele and ranged would even things out a bit...and for the most part rangers play far differently than rouges do...and its also seen as a 'good' archetype where rouges are more 'chatoic/neutral'.
But that's just me...I just that having 3 specialized classes that pertain to just ranged...and three for just meele (maybe share one hybrid with each class) would be better.

Yes. A little bit of a mix-up would be great. It's silly to suggest everything could already be handled with the current archetypes, a lack of creativity hardly shared by the developers of the games themselves I'm sure.
Rather than try to hybridize all of the classes, the better option (imo) would be to add a fourth class that handles these abilities, particularly since the precedent has already been set in other iconic lore. I'm referring to the artificer, the 'alchemist' MP spec, and the mage/warrior hybrid tree. The three of these would have been better served consolidated into a literal Alchemist class, one that creates, concocts and strategizes, as a hybridization of magical cantrips and accoutrements alongside melee combat. As a base class, it could have been expanded upon in some very creative ways that, without a second layer of class evolution, the current setup does not allow.

It has pretty much everything. While there are technically three classes, you also have a bunch of different specializations, which change how the class works and acts. In other games those specializations would be considered different classes of their own (thief class for using daggers, ranger class for using bows, cleric for a warrior that uses templar abilities, etc). It's just the system that's different.

No I don't thinks so. I think they do a good job of letting each class branch out into other areas. Though maybe I might be swayed by the ranger argument.

No. I think each class with their individual specialisations more than cover everything. Any additional class would overlap with the existing base classes, or the specialisations.
The only other thing I think they could do is adopt an approach similar to that of the Elder Scrolls games, where you effectively chose what you want to do without being bound by class in any way. Instead of selecting between three classes at the beginning, the player could instead be presented with the simply choice. "Magic?". Although I'm not sure how well that would work in a game like Dragon Age.

We have Tempest now. That should suffice.

Only thing I can think of that the three classes don't cover is a 'monk' class, but martial arts doesn't seem to be a big thing in Thedas anyway.

What would it be? The seemingly arbitrary divide between warrior and rogue is already alot. I like games with lots of classes, but in DA it doesn't really fit.

I would be more interested in another race than another class, because I think it would both be more interesting to have in the game, and easier to implement into the existing structure. Although I don't foresee this actually happening anytime soon (Who else lives in Thedas?), I do have my hopes that the Architect may still be out there, brewing up some playable race for the far future.

My immediate thought on reading this was a bare-handed melee class like monk. That would be pretty cool. ![]()
(Plus extra reasons to wrestle LI into submission using my skills in martial arts.. heh)

I agree that three classes is enough to cover everything... that's why most games have either no classes or variations of the basic 3.

Maybe a fortifications-based class?
Instead of direct combat effects, you make walls for protection, smithies etc....? Kind of like a wondering factory of sorts?

I'm not really sure what purpose such a class would have in actual combat (which is the point here really), unless he's running around with a portable forge in the heat of battle, banging away at whatever creations the party suddenly decides they need.. haha.. odd.
But for fortification in battle, that is what the warrior class is aiming at - guys like Blackwall and gals like Cassandra; strong defense and heavy hitting.

I think an unarmed class would be a interesting addition.

Are we still talking about organic beings, or is this like... a robotic class...?

I think they could perhaps make something up to give dwarves three classes, at some point.

Instead of new class...more weapon styles like dual sword , spears which are very common in medieval type world..and from fantasy style like scythe , naginata which were available in NWN 2..just look at how many stuff u can wield there.

^Mage.
When you have magic users, hand to hand combat is superfluous. Particularly against armour as well
