Viv could be the last mage we recruit, at the very least. It seems Solas needs to be around to explain the rift stuff, and Dorian needs to be around to explain the Venatori stuff, which both should happen fairly early in the story. Vivienne probably can offer insight to Circle stuff and the Orlesian Game, but those aren't brand new things that require that much explanation imo.

Our advisers are likely all going to join at the same time right at the start of the game since we'll be getting advice from them and sending their agents out on missions from the start of the game.

Lol The Circle is part of the Mage-templar war. Not related to Solas nor Dorian.. she is still a mayor factor in this Inquisition.... wtf are you saying.

We'll start off with Cassanadra and Solas.
Varric will probably be the first rogue we encounter.
Vivienne will meet in Orlais through some political event I'm sure.
Dorian will probably encounter at some point in our first dealings with the Venatori.
Blackwell will probably meet during our dealings with the Grey Wardens.
Iron bull will probably be a side quest where he contacts us
Cole will most likely be a side quest and we discover him.
I remember reading somewhere we encounter Sera for the first time in Orlais; I'd bet on it being through side quest or some event.

SHORT VERSION:
Start off with Cassandra, Varric and Solas
Through story we meet Dorian, Blackwall and Vivienne.
Cole, Ironbull and Sera will most likely be through side quests/exploration.

Did anyone else see that in the Crafting and Customization video, when the Inquisitor with a party of Cass, Solas and Varic are fighting the level 5 envy demon, Cole runs in from the left at around 1:53? At least I think it is him. It definitely looks like a blond, dual wielding rogue. He certainly isn't in the party. I wonder if thats his recruitment quest? I hope this means we can meet most of our companions at a relatively early level. 

 

Regardless it seems like Cass, Varric and Solas are most likely to be our first party.

Am thinking that Cassandra will be first, because if you look at the gameplay trailer she said, "You walked out of the fade and "our" soldiers found you." I'm guessing that is at a really early point of the game. Before their is even a Inquisition. Also since she said "our" and not "your" means at that point we have nothing.

It's definitely Solas. He's at there at the site of the blast with Cassandra, when the Inquisitor first closes a fade rift.

 

Seems pretty clear that it'll be Cassandra/Solas/Varric.

I never said she wasn't important. All our companions are. What I'm saying is that the rifts and the ability to close them, as well as the Venatori, are brand new story elements and directly tied to main story, and we likely need NPCs to explain them to us fairly early in the game, and therefore it makes sense for them to be recruited early. Whereas Vivienne is probably recruited later, which is supported by the fact that she'll invite us to a ball.

 

But this is all just speculation based on trailers and other scraps of info.
