The Big Twist

Spoiler

If there is any real twist i want it to be the realization of what the Elder One actually is. or something like that.

But some attack that throws every thing out of wack and just leaves you with dread and stress would be awesome.

I will play the boring part here: I would prefer if in the end everything can be more or less solved and some definite conclusions are made to the current storyline. So templar-mage conflict is solved, hopefully in three ways (either mage, templar or bit of both), and that Elder One is sent back to where he came from. I am not a big fan of twists ... they make me think too often of M. Nigt Shymalan, which means: Only having a twist for teh sake of having one? Usually doesn't work, therefore risky business that can ruin all, just for the sake of some cheap shock-value...

I mean, yeah, the Red Wedding was mentioned earlier...but really, after that? The books keep struggling to top that, and a lot of the chars are sorly missing by now (including purple wedding), making the last books rather ... less strong, carefully speaking

Also ... world-shattering twists that change the whole premise of the Dragon Age world? Stuff like that needs to be handled carefully...because I already see a young ghost-like figure at the end of Inquisition, telling me bullshit about THE MAKER's plans that have nothing to do with anything, forces me to decide whether to destroy all mages or all people with blonde hair, and in the end all mass portals are gone and...oh, sorry, mixed something up I guess

I'll say this:

If DAI ends with the Elder One gone and everything going more or less back to normal with a few slight changes, that would be greatly underwhelming after all of Flemeth's talk about the big change that's coming and Sandal's prophecy.

I expect something *really* big to happen, something that makes some fundamental changes in the magical landscape of Thedas, and it will probably be big enough that we won't be able to make a choice to avoid it, rather than giving it a slightly different shape with our decisions, because it would be next to impossible to include that kind of divergence in a sequel.

Such a kind of change would also be needed for any conclusive end of the mage/templar conflict, because as it is, it has no solution and all we can hope for is an end to the war. If there is no conclusive end, i.e. at least an end conclusive enough to allow the conflict to rest for a while, it will still dominate the political landscape and the discussions on these forums, and as interesting and eternal as the underlying problem is, I think we've all had enough of it for a while.

So yeah, I do expect something big.

We know that Skyhold at some point gets attacked during the game right? That has some potential.

Hum..I don't know why a 'Big Twist' has someone dying . I like to ...avoid the dying part..cose thats so anticlimatic .

Anyway.....A big Twist would be that whats happening is warden/Hawke fault . Kinda like...repercussion of actions done in the past

And I know...we won't see the warden and Hawke would probably have one line . But the effect still be the same....

well I be pissed though  but still....would be good for a twist no ?

I hope they don't include a twist that leaves those of us who have not read all the books at a disadvantage.

Facing a trip to Tevinter in the next game would suit me - always wanted to go there!

Here's your big Twist.

Hawke is the Elder One and you must defeat him/her as your Main boss of the game.

I want the Elder One to be the leader of the Arlathan Dreamers of old - awoken when Morrigan activated the first Eluvian.

I want Andraste to also be a Dreamer mage who gives the Inquisitor the power to close the Breach.

And lastly I want to find out that the elves of Arlathan were cruel and vicious dudes who actually enslaved humans and the "colonist" story is a lie.  The humans rebelled while the ancient Dreamers slept - closed off the Eluvians trapping them - and became the new dominant race.

Yesss, come to the dark side. We have crackpot theories about how the Inquisitor is actually a spirit possessing one of the bodies that died in the blast cookies!

I really hope the Inquisitor isn't just a walking corpse with a spirit controlling him/her.

And defeats the The Elder One through the power of rock? I can get behind this.

Controlling isn't the word I'd use.

"Friendly" abominations share the memories and personality of their host. Moreso if they were alive (Anders) or recently dead (Wynne) when the spirit hitched a ride. But even Kristoff's memories were accessible to Justice, and Kristoff was a decaying corpse.

It can even get confusing for the spirit, see Cole. He didn't even realize he came from the Fade. He experienced vivid memories from mortal Cole's life.

If the Lost Spirit theory holds (and remember, it's a crackpot theory) I expect we'd be closer to that end of the spectrum. The PC truly believes themselves to be the same person that attended the peace conference, and is puzzled why they survived.

Not even an evil god can handle the octave range of Freddie Mercury.

I'll accept a Anders situation where he is a alive and he is sharing his body with a spirit, but anything else is a big no no for me. Because I can see when we defeat the Elder One, I can foresee something where the spirit leaves the body and the Inquisitor falls over dead. I prefer living at the end thanks.

The devs have confirmed we can play post-game. So the Inquisitor definitely can survive the ending! :D

Still if I were the Inquisitor's LI i'd be rather freaked out that the Inquisitor was just a walking husk with a spirit at the wheel.

No more of a walking husk than Wynne. She, too, was dead or near death when the spirit hitched a ride.

That's good news for me ... nothing would annoy me more than being forced to "sacrifice" myself for some unavoidable heroic nonsense-ending ...

the big twist will be the Protheans/Reapers will come down and teach the humans modern technology, i mean who needs magic (like Firestorm) when u can have modern guns and weapons of mass destruction, so the world of Theadas will advance like the Asaris, which leads to Mass Effect 4.

Orlais should burn and it's citizens should consider migrating to Nevarra, Ferelden, and Tevinter.
