Yes. Dragon Age hooked me with its story and world-building. I really liked the side quests and the various sub-plots that built each character into a believable individual. The depth and breadth of the play always entices me back at some point and I find myself replaying it quite a bit. In fact, while I am waiting for the next incarnation, I've started another.
I play the PC version for the mods and play the console version for the original game.
I am a bit addicted. ![]()
The party banter is a major win with me, so much so that I keep switching out party members, trying different combinations just to hear the chatter. Zevran and Morrigan are my favorites, in the wise-cracking department, although there are some pretty potent lines that come from the rest of the gang as well.
And the first time I ran across the Superman reference and the X-files reference I just cracked up. I like a serious game that can make me laugh and between the background chatter and the pop culture references this game is gold.
Do you STILL love this game?

I appreciate the recommendation, but still will pass on it due to the use of profanity. Thank you anyway.
Yeah, if excessive swearing and extreme violence puts you off, its probably not something you would enjoy. I compare to DA mainly because it's one of the few non-Bioware games with a really strong character development focus. I recommend it to everyone simply because I rate it as one of the three best games I've played in over 25 years of gaming, but obviously, ymmv.

Every time I play this game I can't wait to get calians/warden commanders armor and then finish origins and get sentinel in awakening. just wished you could talk to the archdemon think of that conversation!

Started to make a post about how much I love the game when i realized the majority of that love comes from modders, not so much the vanilla game. While I love the world and it's rich background, characters and story, (and in my mind, Bioware still has yet to top them) tbh I'd have stopped playing several years ago if not for the ability to mod my game, remove bugs and keep the world fresh. There's only so many times I can do this or that in the game before it gets old.
Inquisition makes me nervous because of the open world, the new combat system (not sure I'm going to like it) and the notoriously hard to mod game engine Bioware chose for their game. I played Skyrim once and even then I think I may have done only about half (if that) of everything I could have done before I got bored and moved on to the main storyline. If Inquisition is anything like that, I'll be bored long before I'm done with even my first playthrough.

Skyrim is not a story driven RPG; more of a country that has various tales in which to discover. The way I found to keep it fresh is to create a personality of the character, and play that while exploring that part of the world.
Bioware is known for stories. Here the difference is that the areas discovered like in DAO will be more open for exploration; not like the paths, trails, and roads of the previous games.

For me, DAO is Bioware's best game.
It is one of my favourite games of all time.
I just think the game is well written with characters that the player cares about and the party banter is excellent.

I'll always love this game, and will always revisit it at some point or other.
Pretty much.
DA:O is probably my most replayed single player game.

Yes. Dragon Age: Origins is one of my favorite games of all time. I still play it, and I know that I will come back to playing it again once Inquisition comes out. To me it doesn't matter how old the game is or if the franchise has new installments (as I've seen with the Elder Scrolls series, a lot of people don't bother to pick up older games in the series when a new one comes out). If I love the game I will continue to play it.

Still love this game and as many have pointed out, it's because of the story, characters, and dialogue. Those are what keep the game fresh. As I said in another post, it's been years since origins came out, but fans are still debating whether Loghain is truly evil and what his motives were. That's a mark of a great game to me-the open-endedness, the depth of characters, and the nuisances that you can pick up on or miss during a playthrough.
I still replay the game a lot too; from time to time I'll clear my achievements and go through the game and try to get them all again (which I'm doing right now in preparation for Inquisition). Role-playing, picking different character classes and races, and forcing myself to choose options that I haven't before--all that keeps the game fresh and lets me find things that I forgot about or missed during previous playthroughs. In fact, just last night I was playing and I brought Morrigan to the tower with me. Instead of persuading Carroll like I normally do to get us across the lake, I asked a different question and Carroll started hitting on Morrigan. And what was even funnier was that Morrigan went with it, basically pretending to be a black widow, scaring Carroll with all the things she'd do to him and intimidating him into taking us across. I was still laughing as I tried to talk to Gregoir. How'd I miss that all these years? Probably cuz I don't take Morrigan to the circle that often, because I don't really ever choose that option.
Again, that versatility makes the game great. If you're role-playing, each playthrough really is unique. That's not to say that there aren't parts of the game that aren't a drag (for me that's things like the circle quest being three times as long just because of the fade or picking up zevran and finding he has 30 dex but only 17 cun so he basically can't open anything or disarm simple traps), but there are definitely other parts of the game that make up for that and keep you invested. As others have mentioned, I really think it's the banter and the companions that do that for me. I don't know how many times I've played this game, but I still stop and listen to the banter and wait for them to finish even though I know I must've heard most of it at least 50 times before.

This is my first experience of playing anything like this. Used to be Diablo player. Can't go back there now. Will obviously play other stuff (have just finished some ME3 playthroughs and am looking to do 1 and 2). DAO/A (despite bug heaven) will always have a place in my little gamer heart. (And the forums).

I started with DA2 and on the strength of Alistair's cameo went and bought DAO. So glad I did.

Ya, still one of my fav games ever, even though the gameplay is kinda meh and it now looks like crap by comparison to newer games. I'll probably like playing Inquisition more but it probably won't top RPing my Wardens

Still playing!
Just finished a playthrough.....did stuff in this playthrough I hadn't done in any of my other 27 playthroughs.
(don't send Jowan into the fade, he sucks against the desire demon.)
Working through all the origin stories again.
(I reformatted my hard drive, and lost all my saves)

I'm playing DAO now actually. I traded my old copy for extra Gamestop %, but the game I traded it for was crap. I bought another about 3 years ago, and kept it. I've yet to play a game that made me feel the same, as I do about DAO. Hell I'll even say it beats Skyrim. MY opinion tho.

IMO op doesn't even need to ask this. Games at such quality level are and will always be rare, I think DA:O is worth at least one play through each year, and see how your view on the world of Thedas improves.

The only game I've probably ever re-played more was Morrowind, and that's probably a coin flip at this point. And frankly, DA:O is a much better game just from character and choice perspective. It's the best game I've ever played and the one with by far the most replay value. And despite replaying it so many times, there are still things I haven't done. I have a friend who just laughs that I keep replaying it, because he can't believe a story-driven RPG can stay that interesting. Even though he's played it, so he should totally know.

Before that I was playing my favorite mmo dark age of Camelot regularly but when I was sick i was too weak to be competitive in the rvr. I got tired of it and decided to reinstall dragon age. I thought I wasn't gonna like it anymore after playing the hell out of it back in 2010.
I have done so many play throughs now that I'm just waiting on inquisition but I still find myself fiending to play. I bought da 2 meh made a couple of hawkes and now I'm trying out the whole mass effect thing.
Nothing like origins i wish it's creators could see only see that. I see so much da 2 in inquisition I fear its not going to be right.

I still loves me some DA:O. I've even taken to making up my own lines I would have put into various parts of the series. BW has some of the best story writers around, but some of the personal conversations are kind of... bleh. Like romancing Morrigan then flirting with Liliana just to make Morrigan jealous. When Morrigan confronts your Warden, with a high cunning att, you could go off on a rant about only showing interest in Liliana to see if Morrigan would get upset. How else could you know if Morrigans "affections" were genuine or just part of some scheme. I think Morrigan would have found such a manipulation rather... endearing. Bunch of little moments like that.
On the whole, DA, and DA:O specifically, is my favorite RPG of all time..Elder Scrolls are a close second. Not too crazy about ESO, but still plenty of awesome sauce to go around.
