I never stoped playing Origins and now that I played Inquisition I love Origins a LOT more, since I know I won't be getting a good game as Origins anytime soon, specially from Bioware.

Origins is the best. DAI could have been way better than Origins but they made it for low IQ console children.

Gonna play Origins for the next 10 years AT LEAST, for sure.

It's my favourite game through all time and i have played ALOT! 100's of titles and this is the one for me. What i like about Origins is that it can be a stand alone game, it has a ending a satisfying one. Everything added to the Dragon Age Universe after that isn't mandatory, this is where Mass Effect failed, horribly i might add.

It's been about five years since DA:O was released.

Do you still love this game?

If you sold it or haven't played it for a while, would you go back?

DAO is always in my mind and its my fav storyline and game ever. It's a shame that great plot was lost due to Dragon Age 2

I still love it with all my heart, but there is some things in that make rage sometimes. The mages are so damn OP. Some quest goes on, far too long etc.

I've spent about 200 hours in Inquisition so far, and Origins will always remain at the front of my mind. I was way excited that I finally saw Morrigan again, as well as seeing my Warden's child after all of these years. Needless to say, I will always love Origins. I'm waiting until I get my new pc before I start my next run. Human noble, here I come.

I'll be honest, I'm getting bored with it.

Oh what I wouldn't give for one more DLC :(

Same actually. I reinstalled it + like 30-40 mods and all the DLC/expansion and started to play it again ( I have some cool armor mod installed. Like ''of Ferelden'' or Kirkwall export. Dragon Redesigned still one of my favorite).. Although make it a bit easy because some of the armour are a bit too much powerful ( some look frigging nice though). So I have to crank the difficulty to nightmare and even than it almost like I am playing on normal ( easier normal than normal release day on PC though)

I am in Orzamaar just a little bit after recruiting Shale (retextured of course and improved lol) and man did I miss that game :(  ! Haven't played Origin in years, but now I remember why I played it for over 670 hours. Origin is simply put. A master piece. When I leaped in slow motion and killed that nasty looking Ogre ( they look so much more bad ass in Origin than DA2). I was like SQUEEEE!! :P. Oh YEAH !

All the little detail too. The fact I can talk to my companion anywhere and Alistair convo with Morrigan or Leliana cat fighting lol. Letter that actually look like letter and not the lifeless black screen like we have in Inquisition( The UI design is simply superior in every possible way). Tactic mode and the vastly superior UI of Origins. The low fantasy vibe of the game ( better atmosphere) and darkspawn that actually look menacing.

The RP aspect of the game too. I can persuade/intimidate/steal and make traps. Stealth that is actually stealth and superior strategy I can take during combat. Vastly superior tactic you can program for your companion(even more so with mod) The vastly superior inventory and soundtrack ( The Dwarf Soundtrack .. Too good :P). The Dwarf Origins. Oghren fainting lol.

I love Inquisition, but Origin was THE masterpiece. There's so many little detail that make this game just great.

Now I deeply regret to have complained about  some thing about Origin. Origin was just how dragon should have remained (with the improved graphics/animation of newer technology  of course)

I also don't agree that Origin graphic suck. Alistair look the best in Origin.

Hell Yes!

I played through over 10 times.  Unfortunately I lost those saves to a coffee spill...While I was pretty deep into my Nightmare solo (finished deep roads), so I haven't come back in a while.

I will be back one day though.  This game blew my mind the first time I played it.  I don't think I will ever feel the same about a game as I did DA:O my first playthrough.  To hell with OOT and Mario 64! This game is pure nostalgic bliss and it isn't even that old yet @_@

Best of luck in all your playthroughs!

Yup. My favourite game of all time. I stopped playing DA II to play replay DAO shortly after finishing it again. Even finding time to play it while playing DAI.

Currently doing a playthrough right now. Bioware really does a great job at characterization and arcs, and this game is no exception. This game will always have a special place for me, much like the first Mass Effect does.

Enemy mages? Bring a mage with Spell Purge I think it was called. One hit kill on most of them.

Anyway, yes Origins will remain on my gaming shelf forever, and I will eventually play it again. But right now I have to focus on trying not to hate Inquisition.

Absolutely love it. I just started another playthrough after not playing it in years. Since then I've played through the Mass Effect series, DA2, and DAI and other RPGs. This is still my absolute favorite. There is so much content, so many decisions. You are rewarded for paying close attention to details. The characters are fully realized.

DAI made me appreciate Origins all the more. But it also makes me sad, because it reminds me that Bioware doesn't want to make games like this any more.

I still play it from time to time. The only thing that bothers me is my warden not having a voice, but other than that it's still a classic to me

I love Inquisition, but Origins was THE masterpiece.

This.

Origins is a game I've been playing for years and can't get bored of it. Especially as a Dwarf Commoner.

I also like the graphic style a lot more. The only thing I'd like to do someday would be voicing main characters, for now it seems like one doesn't have a personality at all. The voice really helps with immersion.

The thing I loved most were the companions. Yeah, in Inquisition they're well done, but in Origins I feel them. I am able to develop emotions towards certain companions without them being general (Vivienne is awful whomever I pick, but you can hate Alistair with one and love him with another, simply because he has a story, he does things his way and is not generic).

Also, why does Varric join you? He wants to help. Why does Cole join you? He wants to help. Hey, you can't refuse that. I always have all the companions in Inquisition, not at all in Origins. Hey, Zevran? You wanna join? Sure, so you could backstab me right away. Hey Wynne, wanna join? Right of Annulment. Hey Sten? Wanna join? Oh, you don't even seem you want to join.

Technically Varric was there because Cassandra forced him to. He doesn't actually chose to join until later. Zevran doesn't actually want to backstab you. Anyone who gets him to open up about Rinna sees how he really felt about going after you

Playing DAI got me missing Origins which I loved but hadn't played in a while. Now I've been playing DAO non-stop it seems.

Sadly the Keep is such a tease, taunting us of what could be so awesome and yet won't slow my DAO characters that I play on the PC (shows my PS3 characters) It seems like all my efforts to make a great world status with my PC characters in Origins is all for not.

Same here, I stop playing origin since DA2 out but after playing DA Inquisition I will try to play DA O this week. DA I feels empty and dull.

Everyone is just give our Inquisitor power: from the mark, army, agent, resource, party member.

Compare it with our warden, he lost everything, they just use tent until the end of the game. No classy castle. Even Hawke get his house after three years with his own effort.

I still play sometimes, and I am intending to start a new playthrough especially because of the keep. I have nearly beaten Inquisition now, and so I have my main world state for the 3 games but I would like to create a second one, using different characters and exploring things in the games I previously hadn't (for example I didn't attempt any romance in DA2, have never used a female character, none of my heroes in my main worldstate have been a mage)

When there is still a lot to explore, I cannot resist playing it again. I also didn't own several of the DLC's, but the keep showed me I was probably missing some important little bits of content by not playing them... so I also intend to get them :D

Overall, I still love it, never lost its place as installed on my pc.

Well, when you talk to Varric, even at the beginning and ask him, his response is basically: 'I can't just leave with such a threat nearby.'

No, Zevran doesn't indeed betray you. Zevran is an awesome character, and the choice makes him even better. But show me a sentient person who would risk his real life with recruiting an assassin with a pending contract on your head.

Interesting read from you veterans of the game as I'm nearing my 2nd playthrough and contemplating the game’s longevity & replay value.  After playing  the Mass Effect trilogy for about a year and a half, I went to the very bottom of the ME3 forum (first postings) to discover numerous references to how GOOD the DAO game was in comparison to ME3 "abomination of an ending" .   So that's why I'm here.

Good game!   Liking it more I play.   Some of you on this forum have suggested some neat things to try & do differently.    I megaditto with some of you that “great games are timeless”.   Perhaps years from now, I’ll go thru memory lane & dust off my old N64 games and play Turok, Perfect Dark, Zelda (OOT), Star Wars (SOE) and Goldeneye.

I am also observant to read between the lines on a forum.   Besides my discoveries of game specifics -- are my discoveries of the forum folks -- as individuals and holistic.

For example the anguish & frustration of the ME3 ending -- plus just bad writing (IMO) has created a bunch of hostile folks over there and their "posts" show it.   As such, I’ve lost interest over there.    Over here – what a difference!

Here, (for a particular thread) the ratio of original contributors (posts) to quote-and-comment is phenomenal.   Second, the quoted posts here are polite, relevant, and contributory as opposed to the hostile quote-dissect-nitpick over there.   I can see clearly the REASON for both mindsets – and has taught me about researching a game to invest time playing.  On that point, my research paid off.   DAO is a very cool game! ;)
