You know there's something to be said for linearity too. Been playing DAO and DA2 and it's so very structured, where you can only go in one direction, but the story is then so rich and cinematic. Ran around DAI for a few minutes and it's so daunting in comparison. It's really too bad RPGs are going more open world at the sacrifice of storytelling. Here's hoping ME4 doesn't do the same...

Case in point, that bigger is NOT always better :P

I wholeheartedly agree. All this jumping around in armor is not really an improvement. Riding a horse solo to get to different points without the party banter isn't that smart either. Well... if you can trigger the banter.

I hope this answers your question.

Thank you for answering. Well, I get your stance. I shall only explain why do I love the game and play it still. But I agree it could be a bit better in terms of bugginess and stuff.

1) I haven't preordered it, didn't know about the problem.

2) Yeah, even the Blood Dragon Armor didn't show up.

3) I haven't encountered this yet.

4) I don't play with a full party.

5) I didn't play it that far back.

6) Approval reset is awful.

Also, @mousestalker, I have always got through the SM without the bug, I seem to be lucky.

Finished this game again! I really loved the final act and the ending. Morrigan's departure always leaves me heartbroken until I get to replay Witch Hunt. I really miss my Warden. Bioware really needs to bring him back for a DLC that gives us one last adventure with him. The voice is a not issue, just bring the voice actors from the character creator. That's canon anyways. Please Bioware!

I really love it.

If only I had a working PS3...maybe next month.

Ouch.....limited to a PS3 then. That's where I first played Origins and it's without a doubt the worst way to play that game. I remember how excited I was to finally play a Bioware game back when I first got my PS3 and I still had a wonderful time with the 3 or so playthroughs I played on console, but after getting the game later on PC it kind of put the whole PC master race thing I always heard about (as a console gamer my whole life) into perspective. That's why I'm glad this gen the consoles are more or less glorified PCs (compared to the cell processor that the ps3 had) due to how much I prefer playing games on consoles.

I still like it a great deal, though I fail to see why it's worshipped to such a degree.

The cliche story, clunky combat, choppy writing, stereotypical characters........this game hasn't aged very well.

But yes, I still love it. I'm more aware of its flaws now, however.

I just never got into PC gaming, and I've always been a console gamer. PC might be the best way to play it, but it's never been a option for me. I will be getting a PS3 once again next week, and I'll be able to get back to Origins after that.

Inquisition-maybe in March. I don't expect it will measure up to Origins, but I do expect it will end up being better than DA2.

Yeah, after getting into PC gaming so late, It's never really felt completely right to me (even if I use a controller). I don't really spend that much time playing on my PC at all anymore (mainly due how dated it is now). As someone who considers DA:O to be the finest game ever crafted, I actually enjoyed Inquisition quite a lot. I think DA:O is a more consistent quality experience overall, but Inquisition definitely does a lot of things right (and in some cases, it's even superior to DA:O). I hope you have a good experience whenever you get to it :D.

Nah, I'm not going to throw eggs at you.

Origins' story made no secret about what it was. A Dark Fantasy tale with heavy emphasis on reconstructing the archetype of the "monomyth" as to present a new story with interesting angles and dynamics despite following a fairly common formula.

Yes, there's a clear and unambiguously evil threat that needs to be stopped. But the Warden doesn't have to be a knight in shining armor. (Mad Mairon Amell for example, laughed while the werewolves tore the elves apart)

Loghain is a traitor, but he's not a one-note villain with his own motivations and context which explain his actions and attitudes.

You have a band of companions that all fit a certain character mold, but that mold doesn't stop the characters from being enjoyable or even somewhat unique.

Couple that with a good combat and level-up/equipment system (clunky in parts, but has lots of room for customization); and you have yourself a great game that many believe has aged mostly well.

That said...I've also noticed several flaws that keep it from being "truly flawless". But I still love it.

It's been about five years since DA:O was released.

Do you still love this game?

If you sold it or haven't played it for a while, would you go back?

I own it on both the xbox360 (DAO and Awakenings), last year I bought the Ultimate Edition on the PS3 so let me answer you via Harry Potter.Always-severus-snape-23854971-500-364.jp

This game will always hold a cozy little place in my heart.

Okay, to be honest, I haven't even gotten to finishing DA2, and I can't play DA:I yet because my computer ain't good enough for that. It's taking me a while to grow accustomed to playing as Hawke instead of my Warden. *sniff*

Yes... I'm not a huge RPG gamer, but this is one of my all time favorite games. Not crazy about the combat, but it's the story and the characters that I love anyway...

DA2 was an improvement on the graphics, but that's about it... Obviously the graphics in DAI are superior (on Xbox One), but for me Origins still has the best written story.

If DAO was remade for the next gen consoles, I would buy it in a heartbeat and pay full price.

I don't stop loving great games just because they're old.

Truly great games remain great no matter their age.

I agree 9i still play old looking games as well I have a Star Trek Bridge Commander which came out in 2002 and has PS2 type graphics really and I still play it to this day in fact been playing it recently while watching some Star Trek Voyager episodes on DVD as I own all the Star Trek series on DVD Finished the 2nd season last night in fact. but just because a game is old doesn't mean I stop playing it. I can also see both Dragon Age and Mass Effect being games I'll be playing for many years to come.

Origins is my favorite game. Period. End of story. I'm currently scouring to find anything similar. Alas, doubt I ever will. I do enjoy ME and ME2, and I'm trying out previous Bioware titles.

Wrong question, OP. You had to ask "do you still PLAY this game?" The answer would be the same - yes, but had more sense. We all here first played DAO, and loved it (since we are all still here and continue with the series), how could that love vanish? :)

Other then that - yes, still love (of course), still play. Every time I come across half-written short story RPG I feel an urge to go back and play a "real" RPG aka DAO.

Of course. It brings together fast but tactical combat, well-written characters and a nice story. Best part of the DA series in my opinion.
