I still like it a great deal, though I fail to see why it's worshipped to such a degree.

The cliche story, clunky combat, choppy writing, stereotypical characters........this game hasn't aged very well.

But yes, I still love it. I'm more aware of its flaws now, however.

The story is not cliche, it's classic adventure. It can be a fine line sometimes, but there's a difference. Several of the characters were quite good. In what way were they stereotypical? I guess you could say Sten is Proud Warrior Race Guy.

For me, with time DA:O became something bigger that just a game.
I can only compare it to a good book that became some sort of life companion.
It's an unforgettable experience, the memory of a journey with friends.

ETA: So, answer is yes, I still love this game, but open to new affections. ;)

Some say cliché; I say more like a favorite blanket, book, or toy beloved as a child. It is embracing a youth's excitement and love of Griffins. And the foreboding poems in the game are as chilling as Poe, IMO.

Cliché? I'll have seconds....

I love Origins and will always love Origins. I made myself promise I'd finish the entire series before I'd go back and play DAO again and I'm chomping at the bit to go back to it.

TLOU is an otherwise decent game that is taken to a whole other level by its fantastically well written and believable characters that are beautifully acted (and the soundtrack is superb). Much like DAO, you play it less for the game itself than to experience the story and perfectly realised characters. It is the only other game I've played that made truly care about the characters the way DAO did.

How scary is TLOU? I been thinking about trying it, but I hate horror games. I've played the Walking Dead game by TellTale Games, is it scary like that?

Like I said, it's classic, not cliche. You've just described the difference. Classics are classics for a reason. They bring back good emotions and memories. They are familiar, but not the same. A cliche is something that is old, tired, and boring.

Yeah, it's one of my favorite games of all time. A game I've spent countless hours on just to enjoy the immense story and the characters that inhabit that world.

Yep. It's been said several times already:

Origins is probably my most replayed game ever. Currently on another playthrough right now. While I'm one of those boring sods who develops a headcanon character and always plays them in subsequent playthroughs of any RPG, I still never get bored. I teared up when Eleanor (Cousland) told me to leave with Duncan and stayed to die with Bryce. I still felt devastated for poor Jory at the Joining. I'm currently on my way to the Circle to sort their mess out and get help for Conor and Eamon, because I wouldn't trust Jowan with a shopping list, not to mind saving a child from a demon in the Fade!  :D Sending Morrigan is more satisfying to my headcanon - she huffs and puffs about it, but she did it out of her growing friendship with my Warden.

Origins has its flaws, but they don't bother me. I game more for story than combat or gameplay, so I always found the combat fine. Difficult enough on harder settings. I never play as a mage in any RPG, so when everyone dies and I'm left with Morrigan it's quite entertaining. "SHAPESHIFT QUICK!!"  The world, the story and the characters are compelling and wonderful. As previous posters have said, they're like old friends. I care deeply about the characters. To be honest, the best thing about Inquisition for me was seeing Leliana and Morrigan and how they've developed. I wish there was war table banter/a few small cutscenes between them. I get the impression they have lost their antagonism towards each other and now have a mutual respect. For my Warden they were surrogate sister and lover (with a bit of unrequited love towards Morrigan, who selfishly decided experimentation wasn't her thang.  :P ), so their bickering was a source of exasperation. While I am one of those controversial people who didn't hate DA2 and actually quite liked it (it has far more flaws than Origins, but I think it excelled on smaller storylines and characters), Origins is still the best. Inquisition is...well I haven't made up my mind. I need a second playthrough that I've planned out a bit in advance. The open world mish mash keeps stopping and starting the main story, so it doesn't have good momentum IMO.

But yes: Origins will always be my true love.  :)

Yes! It's one of the most replayable games I have. It's story is timeless, you've heard it a million times, but ironically that's exactly why it doesn't get old. The different Origins, and the little things you can do different in that already, let alone the game entirely, add to that replayability.

So yes, I love it still. It's timeless. It's a classic.

I'll say that I look forward to playing DAO again someday (even if not this year).

Not really so with DA2. I may still do it, but that's just to mess around with Rivalry/Friendship one more time (in my playthrough I was mostly Friendship but with Merrill and maybe more as Rival).

Yes.  Buggy though it is, I still play it and enjoy it.  I'll probably do another game sometime this year, as I still haven't done the dwarf commoner origin.

There's also a giant "F You" moment or two in there for extra awesome.  :)

My first game that hooked me in the series.

It's worth playing over and over again. imo The origins, the choices and the consequences were really well done, and the companions are one of the best written.

Still love this game?

Hell yeah, this is the best of the three games!

Inquisition has not defeated Origins - yet. Let's see what the DLC might bring. But until now Origins is still the best.

As a supplement to my previous post; even now, 5 years after I got the game, I find new content.. Wynne just fell over (so very observant). Never used Wynne really. Barely talked to Wynne, also leading to all these maternal conversations, and griffons stories, that I had never heard before.

5 years..!

It's like when I for the first time, after what must've been 6 years or more, had the side mission in Mass Effect where you call your mother. Had no idea for 6 years that it excisted.

Something like that feel very strange, exciting, but also strangely nostalgic despite it being completely new to you.

Wynne & Oghren had some funny lines.

But your mother in Mass Effect was pretty boring compared to Liara's father.
Family Ah, what a kick in the quad.

Always a reference. a strong story.

One of the best game, if not the better  since I play on PC for more than 16 years.

hope bioware makes an upgrade of it because of it's popularity, like Half- life source, all that financed by kickstarter without changing anything.Just some areas a little bit much larger.

we can always dream :D
