They Said monday

They said the week commencing Monday 6th, not Monday 6th. If it's not out today it doesn't mean they have forgotten again.

It's a different situation, the hardware in the new consoles isn't as groundbreaking as the previous gen was, and furthermore the demands are increasing exponentially. It's one thing to up the graphical fidelity by using more taxing shading techniques, higher polygon counts, tesselation and advanced physics, etc. But then people demand a higher resolution as well, which comes with a further increase in performance cost. If that wasn't enough, they want it to run at 60 fps, which puts even more strain on performance.

The bottom line; you can't have it all unless you're willing to fork out a bit more than $400 consoles. And no, 4k is not around the corner just yet, not for gaming. The semi-affordable panels are of poor quality, and you still need multiple GPUs to run games assuming that you're aiming for that smooth 60 fps.

Last gen's hardware is nearly a decade old, Current gen is a lot better spec wise at least for PS4

In terms of context, the PS3 and 360 had incredibly powerful hardware to what was available for PC in comparison at the time. Both the PS4 and XBO on the other hand have what at best can be described as mid range components. In fact, there were already far more powerful options available on the PC some years before the next-gen consoles even launched.

Of course PC's out class this generation of consoles, its unfortunate but, Sony/Microsoft would of had to charge a lot more for their respective consoles to put better tech in. PS4/XBOXONE specs compared to last gen is a lot better. Also this gen specs are   low to med when comparing it to PC's.

Yet they're performing on par with high and ultra settings on PC.

I could build a PC that would do it. Right now.

Not sure why I bothered saying so, because I know you can't be convinced of that. But I also don't care. *shrug*

You're right, I'm not convinced of that. But point is people bought their PS4 for $400 last year, so a PC you only paid $400 for last year definitely couldn't do what PS4 is doing.

And what's the point in getting a $400 PC anyway? For that much you may as well just get a console. I wouldn't build a PC for anything less than $1000.

At least the PS4 is fully upported for the entirety of its life, which could be up to 8 years. That $400 PC is already forgotten about before you've assembled it.

In all honesty it probably won't look too shabby. I've seen some demos for FFXV and they look pretty impressive and thats on xbone and ps4.

Majority of games run at 720p to 900p, and barely at 30 fps. Not exactly the most ideal settings for high or ultra. I personally think games on the current consoles look just fine, but they don't match ultra settings.

That's XB1, on PS4 every game at 30fps has been 1080p, the lowest res has been 900p and the fps in that case has been at 60fps.

Look at digital foundaries breakdown of Sniper Elite, they said the PS4 version was pretty much the same as Ultra settings on PC.

They are generally somewhere between high and ultra. Shadow of Mordor, as the most recent example, has been confirmed to be equal to high settings on PC.

I think you posted this in the wrong thread. As to answer your question. No, it won't make it easier to import save files from DA 2 since there is no import of save files with DAI. There is only the Keep which doesn't import save files from earlier games at all.

Not really. Developers are just intentionally creating parity on PC versions, which is terrible.

I was a bit disappointed to read that Shadow of Mordor scaled down its most interesting feature on last-gen systems. I was going to get it on PS3 since I don't give a rip about graphics, but I guess now I'll wait until I get a PS4. It'll probably be really cheap to get used by then, though, so that's something.

Really glad BioWare's not taking anything important out.

I suppose I've become a bit of an elitist when it comes to looking at consoles, but then again, I've been playing my games at 1440p for more than two years before the next-gen consoles even launched.

I think the real reason is that dev's aren't going to go all out on graphics for a minority of gamers with super duper rigs, nothing to do with consoles.

Take consoles out of the equation, you'd still have dev's making games more so for mid and low end pc's than high end.

Yeah but that's on a monitor, TVs are 1080p, there's zero need for any console to do more than that.

If I had the choice between 1440p at a desk on a monitor, or 1080p on my couch and tv, I'd go for the latter.

Well i only got around to buying last gen console about 2 months ago so now have about 10 years of games to play :D all at reduced price, anyhow i bought Destiny and it plays an looks fine, great even if you are like me an not to fussed about gfx's

I seen the xbone version of it in my cousins an huge difference in how it looks, but meh feels n plays exact same so dont expect anything less from Bioware tbh.

PC was doing 1080p a for a long time consistently, they are new doing 4K. I don't think you really know how high end gaming PC's work?

The advantage consoles do have though is that everything is unified .

Why would anyone even play this game on past gen consoles?

I am one of those guys that had a flip phone till two years ago.  I am patient and okay with what I have in life.

The real reason is that I can't have a new console or PC as a distraction till I finish grad school this spring.
