I'd like to dissolve the Templars and absorb them into the Inquisition, leaving only the red Templars as titular Templars. Then I'd like to recruit the Mages. I'd hope to be able to recruit the elves and dwarves ... dwarves especially since we have a magic problem. I'm hoping my Warden's groundwork with Sten will be useful in forging some goodwill with the Qunari ...

and i'm not saying you said peacefully. i am talking about choice.
Which side do you support the Geth or the Quarians. but no matter what one will die. that's a hard choice. but knowing you can save both of them with no bloodshed makes the option easy.
Making it completely about GOOD, and EVIL choices. not a hard decisions or a tough calls.
But with Siding the Mage's who want there freedom, Or help the Templars put them back in circles to protect people. its completely about choice, which would help you more, what do my morals says, would i be ok killing these people, is protection more important than freedom? BUT giving the player the choice to completely scrap that and just save both completely eliminates any choices. it becomes the wrong choices and the only right choice.
Still depends, if you really don't like one side you might not want to save both. Maybe I want to kill all templars, maybe someone else wants to kill all mages, maybe when you RP a psychopath Inquisitor you want to kill everyone on either side. Saving both is only the best choice if that's what you want to do

He was saying that a perfect solution that saves everyone invalidates all other options because it's clearly better, right ? I'm saying it's not necessarily so

Yes they're are certain times when someone might wish to choose an 'evil' choice. but that's the exact point. they are choosing a evil choice. when the entire MT war is based on opinion of who is right and wrong.
So yes of course have good and evil choices in a games. Like screwing over a trader when they desperately need your help so you can get a few more sovereigns.
What i'm trying to say is yes one choice might seem like the more evil one. But taking away the ambiguity of that choices makes it all about good and evil. and not about who was in the right or wrong. who would be more helpful? Templars or Mage's? But adding a third options where you can save both sides. Creates a Good and Evil choice. If you had all three options with the Quarians and Geth how could you justify ignoring the peace option? even though it is completely and without a doubt the right choice to make.
Like you said, you would have RP a lunatic to choose the other two.
Things don't need to be evil, but moral ambiguity is essential. Just like the Quarian and Geth choice before the third was unlocked. it hurt to watching tali kill herself because i thought the Geth were in the right and only defending themself. It hurt watching legion throw himself at you trying to save his people and dying for a battle you couldn't stop. That was a tough choice. But any time i had the peace option of course i would choose it. because it made it a tough call easy to make.

No, what I'm saying is, maybe I think siding with the mages is a good thing, or vice versa. There being a super good peaceful solution doesn't make the other choices evil. What if one thinks Thedas would be a better/safer place without mages or without templars, in their eyes taking a side would still be a good option.
I'm saying it doesn't make taking either side invalid, it just adds a 3rd side to pick from. Also if you're RPing a psychopath there wouldn't be any moral dilemma for your character anyway
