Staff. Hopefully we'll still have the option of sticking a blade on the end like in DA2.
Maybe, but you can't perform melee strikes with a staff in DA:I...

It's obviously i would have to customize all weapons and armors if il'l be playing on Nightmare difficulty.
I am moreexcited to see when this stuff stop going and a real thing start appearing - you know, trailers and that kind of stuff.

Anyway, I plan on playing a mage, so I'll be customising a staff first. I'm also going to make it a goal of mine to avoid using a staff from a previous game. New staffs only! I have a feeling this decision is gonna come back and bite me on the arse, though.

Anyhow, I expect I'll go with a greatsword. I would like to be able to also have the backup weapon of a goodly bow, but since I believe that warriors are again not going to be able to use bows, that's not happening, at least for my first planned character. Ideally I will be able to acquire or customise a greatsword that looks practical, yet with a somewhat decorative Dalish flair.
A base design similar to this (although obviously somewhat different in the particulars) would make me quite happy.
