Some people don't like her face, some don't like her voice, some don't like the fact that she's portrayed by Felicia Day, some don't like the fact she's Qunari, some don't like the fact that they can't kill and stick her head on a pike...the list goes on.

Any public figure gets some form of hate for whatever reason, dumb or not.  A lot of people in general I'd also say hate more how MoTA makes Hawke act more than them hating Tallis though.

 

Edit: It may not help either that our last piece of dlc for DAII was a 'celebrity' dlc as well which doesn't help much.

Pretty much. I dislike the fact that I have to help her succeed in her mission. I want the Qunari agents to be exposed and killed.

Personally, I find she plays the same super-quirky, nerdy but perfectly talented standout character in everything I've seen her (which to be fair is just MoTA and like... four episodes of Supernatural).

Yes, I don't remember all the reasons but there are some good reasons as to why alot of people don't like her.  I think the biggest one was that she really didn't have any major character flaws compared to even the player character as well (which some flaws of the player character can be attributed to the dominant personality).

For me it is simply because I'm anti-Qunari.

Meaning killing a Qunari spy AND getting a list of other Qunari spies and get them killed would've been the optimal outcome.
Instead you are not allowed to either kill her OR take the list.

 

Edit: In other words ideological reasons. I love strong and smart women so as for personality and character I love Talis

I would sooner have Tallis back than Merrill.

 

To be honest MotA was not that great a DLC if you are not pro-Qunari (which I'm not) I think it's main problem is that it hammers home the underlying DA2 lack of choices from the script and Felicia Day and Tallis both get a lot of stick for what I and from the look of some of the comments here a lot of others found restrictive and annoying about the plot.

 

Personally I liked Tallis in the first part of the DLC, right up to the dungeon scene where she comes over all zealot and you sort of lose the quirky companion that bounced quite well off of my sarcastic/ironic rogue.

 

OP, on the subject of accents Merrill did not have her Welsh accent until DA2 either. The irish/Welsh Dalish is a bit of a DA2 retcon

Hawke already looked like an idiot in DA2 before the DLC came out, thanks to bad story writing.

Quite enjoyed the story, as do many others. And as this thread is about Tallis, I would also like to see her return; never know if we may need to call a Wyvern....

She would probably make good dragon bait too. Though iirc they said there'll be 20+ dragons so we'll have to ration her out  *sharpens cleaver*

Based on the beginning, I would say Redemption is first as it explains how Tallis regained her freedom.

I hope if i see her i can be able to kill that little b.... I never liked her and especially the first time i played the expansion and she left me alone in battle while escaping. She is by far the most ugly elf in da2. Her and Anora are my most hated person in the whole series. I even somehow "liked" Loghain, even though he wanted to kill me.

When did a CRPG have to promise varied conclusions? I absolutely loved Pool of Radiance those many years ago, and my version did not have an ending at all; was a bug that skipped the final battle. So in order to sleep, I laid siege to the final area for a month to insure the Boss could not leave.

And while some seem to dislike Tallis, pls remember to use some class and direct attacks away from the VA herself. Thanks!

The ending doesn't have to vary but if it's fixed it had to be logical for it to be fixed. In the DLC she literally takes the list out of your hand while you stare slack jawed.
