With the fade thinning around Thedas, are all the Tranquil cured?  If that's the case, perhaps Karl should have been saved then :P

No. Sadly the only means of curing tranquilty is by having a spirit(or demon if its clever enough not to be sensed) touch the mind of a tranquil with the aide of a spirit medium. Most spirit would go near tranquil due the being "furnature" to them.

Even if the veil is breached, and demons are rampant theres no garuntee that the spirits would go near them due having live magi and being in the mortal realm on there own

I guess it could be possible for them to be "cured" provided they stay near areas where the veil has been ripped, if they go too far they go right back to being tranquil.

but i don't think the devs have commented on this so it's pure fan speculation at this point.

This was my line of thought as well.  I would find that curious because that would open up an entire sect of mages.

and maybe a possible alliance between said sect and the demons?  ;)

(in order to keep the rifts open)

great minds think alike.  I see a potential side quest here.  Nothing like a bunch of pissed off mages with tranquil tattoos stamped onto their foreheads

Except Tranquility doesn't work that way.

If the Breach is making tranquil mages "complete" again, it's just going to be one more headache for my Inquisitor.  He's got enough on his plate without having to deal with the ethics nightmare that is a bunch of ex-tranquil mages.

Luckily, I agree that Tranquility doesn't necessarily work that way.  Maybe if one of the Tranquil happened to come in contact with one of the demons exiting a Fade rift, maybe, but it would only last for a few moments.  Long enough for them to be screaming in terror, though.

I am not a big lore fan much less a magic lore fan.  I know that Anders/Justice combination brought Karl back for a moment.  With the veil being breached and spirits flowing out of the breach, I just think there is a possibility.  Perhaps it would be spirits instead of demons that help the tranquils.

As a story, it would bring a very interesting gray dilemma that would be difficult to solve.  Closing a breach and the demons/spirits around the tranquils would make them tranquil again.

I'd actually like to see all the Tranquil driven mad being "cured" - then hollowed out and inhabited as the first line of demon spawn.

Then I'd like one of these abominations to make it very clear to the Inquisitor that this was always the destiny of this mage - and Tranquility interrupted destiny.

ok

Why would being near Fade breaches allow one to no longer be Tranquil? Their minds still aren't connected to the Fade anymore than they were before. Also the fact that we can make people Tranquil in Inquisition kind of shows it clearly doesn't work that way.

That wouldn't be hard choice it would be simple dumb vs smart even if you want tranquil mages stay mages simple it is better cure them as there is cure over simple being suicidal and not closing a breach.

I figure as much.  I am just having a fun conversation.  I am not here to argue.  I do that at work (actually I just listen to kids and parents argue).  :)

Have you wronged me in anyway? If not, I'm probably not angry with you. Life is about the debate, and so I live it even here.

yeah i get that but while these are fun threads to discuss lore they often devole into MT debates and some(not i,i enjoy a good debate) are either tired of it or just like to bash x fan.

Personally i am also curious on reverse tranquility from a practical stand point and would love to discuss it :)

In DA2 Karl was temporarily...un-Tranquiled(?).. when Anders lost control to Justice and "brought a piece of the fade into this world"

So it's completely possible for Tranquiled Mages to be temporarily restored if they're near areas where the veil is torn.(provided this hasn't been retconned)

You do realise that Justice is a spirit yes?

It has more to do with your personality and your outlook.  "Life is about the debate" confirms my suspicions about you.  A lot of people live to be right and in my line of work I see many people make it a point to be right even at the cost of their relationships with loved ones (families and friends).  I understand that line of thinking, it becomes a drive for whatever goal you set for yourself....

To avoid being off topic.  I concede that you are most likely right (I don't care about being wrong).  I rather open up the discussion of the possibility that tranquils can be cured even if it is temporary (which is most likely).  The only example I have of that happening is with Ander's tranquil friend, Karl.  How is that Karl came back for a few seconds?  I know demons do not like tranquils and a spirit was involved in this happening so is it possible for a spirit or multiple spirits to aid tranquils?

I also don't imagine all tranquils to be cured if this is the case.  Perhaps proximity to spirit and breach in the fade will allow this to happen.
