But a believable ass!

That's why he's so likable!

Wait.....hold up?  You find Gamlen likeable?  I feel like this is a more important comment to discuss.  I can understand finding the fact that he is "believable" to be likeable.  But to admit that he's an ass and pretty shitty person all around and then to say he's likeable?  Mind. Blown.

What one finds attractive isn't a choice - not really. The fact that something is influenced by culture and not genes doesn't somehow make it voluntary.

You say 'culture and not genes' as if the two were independent. Genes are the boundary condition to culture's differential equation.

I'm curious, do you think sexual orientation is not influenced by genes?

I think orientation is very much genetic. But sexual practices are not per set orientation related. That someone is really into, I dunno, feet or big or small breats or dicks, I don't think that's genetic. I think, at best, that's a complex product of genes environment interactions.

Yeah. I mean, I kind of feel sorry for him because his family treated him like crap from what it sounds like, and he was dealt a bad hand he clearly did not have the skill or ability to overcome, but still.

That's oversimplified. Most people don't have the wherewithal to distinguish between gene-environment interactions and we consider purely "genetic" outcomes (i.e. where we suppose that epigenetics don't exist and don't influence outcomes).

Usually, when people say "genetic" they mean to say that something is fixed at birth and unaffected by environment.

I'm sorry, what gives you the right to decide when something is and isn't influenced by culture, genes, or both? There actually are genetic reasons why men and women are attracted to lesbian/gay sexual interactions.

So how about that homosexuality in Thedas, huh?  That's a thing we could talk about in this thread, right/

Well, it doesn't seem to invite all the crap that homosexuality in real life and on these forums does.

I don't see what there is to discuss, its tolerated amount the nobility and fairly accepted with the lower rungs of society. Most people don't care, and I find it odd that Gamlen does, probably done just to make him even more odious.

I don't think Gamlen really cares, per se. To the best of my knowledge he doesn't work to stop Hawke: he just makes a few smart-mouth comments if Hawke's a man with a boyfriend and openly drools if the sexes are reversed.

I suspect that Dorian's sexuality will be highlighted in some aspect because it seems to be at the heart of some conflict he's having with the expectations for mages in Tevinter.  Given that Gaider wrote him and has been wanting to write a gay character for a while, I suspect that this is going to be a really well-developed and interesting plot point.

I'm not really convinced that Sera's sexuality is going to be such an important part of her character.  Her story will likely be around the plight of the city elves and, while there might some talk about her failing to create more elves, I just don't see it being as big a deal for her.

I think that Bull's sexuality will be played more like a joke.  Like the Isabela/Zevran "horny bisexual" nonsense, but this time with a big giant qunari guy, since people wouldn't "expect it' from him.  I think he's going to be a lothario of some kind.

I'm not really sure how it will play out for Josephine.  Anyone got any ideas?  There's the idea that she might be a past lover of Leliana, but I'm not convinced on that yet.  She might not any emphasis on her sexuality at all.

i imagine it her to have a similar approach to mine. Open but doesnt really "advertise" it and is more interested in the person. Just a thought

Sure, He's flawed and bitter but he knows what he is.

Put that up against many of the other characters in the game and he looks almost decent. He doesn't blow up any chantries over ideology, doesn't snap and try to take over the city, isn't an insane blood mage OR a brutal Templar.

He's just kind of a dick and I can respect that.

Artemis, I'm gonna tell you straight up, I don't think he'll be noble.

That said, I think the way he is living right now, so....vivaciously, is a way to cope with the trauma he's experienced as Ben-Hassrath. Patrick Weekes has said that Bull has PTSD, so maybe him living so hedonistically helps him to cope.

What I want to know, is why specifically Dorian left. Was he legally exiled by the Magisterium or did he leave of his own volition? Either way, he seems like the type to not give two craps about Tevinter thinks of his sexuality. And in some way, I hope he talks about the cultural expectations regarding sexuality in Tevinter.

I have a feeling that it's definitely going to be touched on in some way.  It might be part of his general storyline or it might be reserved specifically for his romance, but I can't imagine that he won't talk about it given that it seems like something that matters given what we know already.

From what we know now, he left, not been exiled. Also, I don't think the Magisterium gives a crap about something like that. And I don't think he wanted to be the part of it either way.

He just got fed up and the venatori did something, something that should be stoped - so he left and joined the Inquisition. That's how it's been presented in his profile and character info.

The magisterium does want him to breed. So that's certainly a source of tension if he tells them to stuff themselves.

True, and the higher up the Pavus family is, it'd probably be a lot more noticeable when their prodigy of son doesn't make any attempts to breed.

She is one of the two most likely LIs to be the virgin romance in my opinion.

Wait, why does there have to be a virgin?
