I have watched some yaoi animes here and there and the scenes don't look so rapey, more like "I want you but I am going to tell you to stop just because", seriously it is obvious the characters are head over heels for each other yet when the seme starts getting romantic, the uke acts completely denies his romantic feelings.

If he really wanted him to stop, he would've gotten physical instead of letting the seme have his way with him.

But I just watched Junjou Romantica and Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi, other yaoi might be different.

There are rapey yaoi anime out there. It's good that you haven't seen them... good lol

 

But BL anime represents a tiny, tiny sliver of the genre. Most BL content is manga. Like 98% of it.

Actually those two titles are good examples of what I'm talking about.

 

I can't stand the "main" couple in Junjou Romantica because one guy basically sexually assaults the other guy. Okay, the guy is all, Don't! Stop! all the while he's writhing in ecstacy, but I'm sorry, he is saying STOP!!! And that is sexual assault in my opinion. And young girls watch that and think it's normal. Um, no. 

 

But that same anime has the lovely, lovely "Egoist" couple (one of whom just so happens to be an English professor; gee, I wonder which one I identify with xD), and that is a rather nice romantic relationship (with all its trials and tribulations... of course Junjou is a humorous manga/anime, so you get scenes of Hiro assaulting his boyfriend's co-worker because, well, that's Hiroki for you.)

OMG... Chizuru... how did you know the one female character I absolutely cannot stand I never played the game though, just watched the anime. I couldn't make it past the first season... the guys were pretty but that's about it. Even if that one had been truly BL I'd have slept through it.

 

Well lots of BL is pure porn, and that includes rape fantasies. And I'm cool with that because, you know, YOLO. Down with censorship and such. But these girls, these young pre-teen girls, read these porny manga and get the wrong idea about real world relationships. I mean those manga are no more "real" than actual porn is... nobody watches porn and thinks, That's how real couples really act with each other! (Well some people probably do, bless their lonely little souls xD).

 

So it just worries me when I see these young girls say stuff like that, because I wonder, will they let boys do bad things to them b/c they think the boy "loves" them? I just don't know. 

 

XD she's not that bad in the game! It's mostly the guys that I wanted to smack in the game. Especially Hijikata. He's such a sweet heart on everybody's route but his. FALSE. ADVERTISING. Kazama may have been a complete monster but he was honest about being  such from the jump (that and he's de douchified in his route) so yeah.

 

Agreed. It's a bit disconcerting. Thankfully most of them should grow out of it. The ones that don't tho =/

 

Yeah hopefully they have people in their life that tell them they should love themselves more than anyone else and to remove themselves from such a situation. Because if you don't care about yourself no one else will.

Hopefully we can get some s/s background couples that aren't so subtexty for a change. And don't end in betrayal.

That's fair xD And one of the reasons I like romance in Dragon Age is because it's more mature and realistic, not like bad BL manga.

You are correct, it just seems to me that a person being raped in real life would fight back a lot more than some yaoi characters do.

Yes. So people bringing up whether victims fight back are forgetting that people can feel scared or helpless. Not unreasonably, if someone is forcing themselves onto you in the first place.

XD Man I love my doucehmobile playthroughs. They're so fun. Renedouche made ME fun for me. XD Though most my playthroughs ended up being mixes. I sold Fenris once man I felt so terrible I had to abandon that playthrough. Never again.

 

But I wonder if we'll get any ONS like in DAO. Hopefully they'll be a mix of hetero and homosexual options if so. And hopefully they don't look like Cammen >_> I won't be able to mod that face this time.

Isabela's rivalmance seemed, to me, to be the only one that doesn't suck donkey balls. Why do you dislike it?

 

Mostly because I don't see Isabela romancing someone she finds boring and uptight. So it just struck me as really...odd. That plus the love scene being the same for friendship and rivalry pretty much (and that god awful what about love line) and nope.

 

Edit: That and the fact that the game seems to assume my rivalmancing Isabela Hawke is boring and uptight to begin with.
