What are your views on portraying such people in Thedas in a DA game? If they exist, on the one hand, we should see them. On the other hand, I kind of don't want to deal with this BS in my gaming. It's bad enough dealing with the occasional attention at a restaurant.

I would think one would limit such comments when one is faced with a person with a large sword or magical aura.  I would also think that hearng side conversations are more interesting when they expand a wprld than when they profess a limited worldview.

That's....not even a word.   Unless you mean a fear of those that follow Sapphos, but even then that doesn't work.

The only phobia that would make sense for Gamlen in Ablutophobia, the fear of bathing.  Still, we're probably stretching it more than a bit here.  Like i said, he doesn't appear to really be phobic.  He's just a jerkass that is probably giving Hawke grief because Hawke made it good and Gamlen still stuck in his hut in Lowtown that smells like old cabbage.  Jealousy plus being naturally being caustic= him looking for any excuse to insult Hawke.

I meant fear of soap........

Ablutophobia is the closest to that, according to Google.   ;)

There is no specific word for a fear of soap.   Just looked.

Not quite true.  Bisexual men most often will limit their interactions with men to only sex and form relationships with women says statistics.

I know that at least one bisexual man in this thread would 100% disagree with you.  And what statistics?  Do you have a link (or three, I like to cross-reference) or is this something you just made up?

I don't really believe the majority of bisexual men act like that, it also sounds similar to the stereotype of bi women being mostly straight when it comes to relationships but willing to get with other women just to turn guys on/have threesomes :?

Gamlen is not homophobic, though. He hates all people equally. He's better than most of us.

Gamlen is a paragon of Equality.

Gamlen is your elderly uncle, it's pretty much his job to be miserable and unpleasant. If Thedas had Fox News he'd probably have it on all the time just to ****** you off B)

I agree with this part.  Gamlen not necessarily homophobic, or any kind of phobic really.  He's just an a**hole.

Pretty much the reason why Gamlen is one of my more favorite characters in the DA series.

I've brought this up before, but the SJWs pretty much just insulted me and called me biphobic and so forth. It's also a reason I will never get into a serious relationship with a bi guy.

did someone mention already that there is a codex entry in one of the gameplay videos that explains how homosexuality is accepted?  it is different in different parts of Thedas.  It's interesting read but I can't find the link.

Yep, that is biphobia. A pretty accurate picture of it. And honestly, if you dont want to be "insulted" that way, why do you insult them? You don't get to insult someone and act like the injured party when they defend themselves.

EDIT: Also case in point how having all bi men in the game have it hidden about them, or a much minor preference to women. It encourages a lot of prejudiced belief.

Here's the entry from world of Thedas, page 72 (I have the book open in front of me.)

"What I find the most interesting is that, despite the lack of open discussion on matters of human sexuality, there is commonality to be found in the subject in all Adrastian lands.  Typically, one's sexual habits are considered natural and separate from matters of procreation, and only among the nobility, where procreation involves issues of inheritance and the union of powerful families, is it considered of vital importance.  Yet, even there, a noble who has done their duty to family might be allowed to pursue their own sexual interests without raising eyebrows.

The view on indulging lusts with a member of the same gender varies from land to land. In Orlais, it is considered a quirk of character and nothing more. In Ferelden, it is a matter of scandal if done indiscreetly but otherwise nothing noteworthy. In Tevinter, it is considered selfish and deviant behavior among nobles, but actively encouraged with favored slaves. Nowhere is it forbidden, and sex of any kind is only considered noteworthy of judgement when taken to awful excess or performed in the public eye."

More likely, he can't sweat due to the burns he received. It is a serious problem for burn victims.

In part, yes. But also because the scar tissue blocks the path for the surviving sweat glands to secrete the sweat.

Which means Darth Vader's suit probably has a cooling system similar to those inside a space suit.

What does this have to do with homosexuality in Thedas, again?
