I suspect it's the opposite.  Cultural disapproval of homosexuality irl seems to have mostly arisen from religion.  If the religions in Thedas don't have the same disapproval of homosexuality, then it would never been seen as something to be looked down upon.  At least that's my thoughts on it.

i agree with that. My idealistic side just thinks that thedas has the right idea on how orientations are handle imo

Well, Thedas isn't perfect. For example, marriage is apparently something that still only happens between dudes and ladies. If marriage in Thedas isn't rooted in procreation, then that shouldn't be the case.

From what i have witnessed it usually is in part at least based around that.

You marry someone so your heirs will have legitimacy and can inherit your lands and titles. If you're lucky you might love that person. If not you'll probably consider picking up a lover to share that connection.

All I know is I made a thread asking for it and according to Allan I was 'disrespecting the LGBT community'. Which is strange since I was asking for s/s marriage as well.

Yeah for our history ^^ Which is why it's also rooted in misogyny to some extent; powerful male --> find virgin female --> put future male heir in (no longer) virgin female --> profit.

 

But Thedas doesn't have to be like that.
