I want to know why our creators want to destroy us.
Are they frightened of us or do they not like how we are progressing?
Are you not interested in finding out what our creators look like and think like?

Jesuschrist was an Engineer, and they weren´t pleased how he ended. So they decided to purge all the planet in response.

Nice guys.

I agree, the smoking moron was crazy.

His boss probably asked him to do that.

I love how tell other people they are immature 13 year olds, yet you find it very difficult to string together a coherent sentence without using caps.

Why does the black goo do so many different things in this movie?

First its a means to seed a planet with life, then its a WMD, then it makes zombies, then it makes really rapey aliens.

The lifecycle of the Xenomorphs in the Alien franchise was very precise and specific, but in Prometheus, the black primordial ooze was seemingly used as a catch all for whenever the science of the film need to have something happen without needing to explain it.

That was the part I had least trouble with. The first goo is not the same as the other goo, but they're similar. The first goo unzipped the engineer genetically to seed the planet with complex organic molecules. The other goo was a mutagen. Creatures directly affected became zombies (mutants) or penis worms (more mutants), creepy mutant semen should not be used to impregnate Swedish doctors, it creates rapey aliens. Once established via reproduction the rapey aliens became their own thing (in fact, the goo was probably designed to do that given the art on the urn chamber).

Why did the engineers want to erase humanity? Probably a religious thing. One faction decided to play god and another faction disagreed.

I can't explain the actions of the non-robotic characters. Apparently they're just subject to stupidity - not hard to believe considering the writer. The robot made sense, he just thought he was a superior lifeform and decided he could mess with people for fun.

^Yeah, I noticed (honestly, I didn't think very much of FCH's article on the ME3 ending, but that's a debate for another day). Just seems like an odd thing to complain about using all caps when that is your signature.

If the goo was specifically design to create xenomorphs then that makes even less sense.

The Engineers want to create an incredibley hostile lifeform that can only reproduce by implanting and killing its host because .... reasons.

The logic behind AvP was more sound than that. The Predators keep the aliens around to hunt. It's easy to follow and not needlessly conveluted.

Thanks for posting that. I really liked the movie and got most of the subtleties of the story but I never got the impression that the Engineers end goal was to transform humanity into something (Xenomorphs apparently).

Without the context that video provided about the Engineers mural, it's hard to come to that conclusion. I just assumed humanity was an experiment the engineers were conducting that had been deemed a failure and the black goo was the reset mechanism.

Well the mural explains it and the mural is in the movie so...

It's just easy to miss.

I love subtlety in story telling! It's why the Dark Souls franchise is one of my all time favorites!

I personally don't agree with the whole notion that in order to fully enjoy/understand the film you must delve into all the trailers, websites, dvd/blu-ray special features and deleted scenes etc. Those additional pieces of info are nice to have, but they shouldn't be required reading; it shouldn't be on the audience to research one's work in order to comprehend it.

Plus I don't care for the position that the video presents; the one that (essentially) states you are an idiot for not going to find out all of this information about the movie and finding the end product underwhelming/stupid.

Sure it's nice to know that Weyland-Yutani has highly attended sensors on their space suits that can detect toxic elements or dangerous microbes down to 500 nanometers, but the fact that one has to dig into the fictional Weyland-Yutani website to find this information; instead of it being in the film; doesn't change the fact that that whole "Let's remove our helmets in an alien environment" scene was laughable and all of the people in it were grossly incompetent at best, and beyond stupid at worst.

Personally I like stuff like that. But there are films that have done it better. Star Trek 2009 comes to mind. Since I like that movie already, but the Nero comics made it alot better.

Prometheus handled it better than Donnie Darko at least. I challenge anyone to make sense of that movie without watching the Directors cut.

I could debate that they aren't stupid for removing their helmets like that, it's something they know, but you don't(until you read the webpage). It's their universe and technology, sometimes you have to have faith that the people in it know more about it than you do.

It seems stupid to you because you don't know that information, it doesn't make them stupid.
