I liked the part when Elba's and Theron's characters went off to bang despite the fact that it'll leave two of their crewmen, who are trapped on a alien ship, unmonitored and unsupervised. I agree with what others posted as nearly all of the character's reactions, and conduct were just plain retarded.

Too be fair... If I was stuck on an Alien Space ship and you left me unsupervised to go bang Charlize Theron, I would totally understand.

Not even mad about it. ^_^

C'mon. They can still bang in the cockpit. Just have to be extra diligent in not taking their eyes off the screen. The possibilities.

Blame Sigourney Weaver.
She's the reason we haven't gotten a real Alien movie to redeem the franchise after AVP Requiem.

Because no one wants to pay her 25% for a movie she wouldn't be in.

Her agent must be one glorious mofo. What a deal!

Very appropriate:

I'm kinda disappointed Mr. Pinkett hasn't done a full review of this movie tbh.

when the first ALIEN movie was being made I'm 100% sure no one thought it was gonna be that much of a successes or it will turn into a cultural icon

thats probably when weaver got such a sweet deal from it cause everyone was like MEHHHHHHH we might make 2 movies out of this then its dead

It'd be a sweet deal if she was still getting paid from it. Fox doesn't WANT to pay her a good quarter of their profits from a film for doing nothing but write on a piece of paper several years ago.. That's why the title was changed, and all references to Xenomorphs and such were removed.

She didn't get anything from Prometheus.

And before anyone asks, yes, The Deacon was a Xenomorph, but the rights to Alien don't extend to the works of the late H.R Giger, who had a very distinct style. Same goes for the Mural. It's a lot of legal mumbo jumbo and it doesn't make alot of sense. I'm just explaining it how it was explained to me.

I think my favourite scene in the movie is the conversation between Holloway and David when he spikes his drink with the black goo;

Holloway: What we hoped to achieve was to meet our makers. To get answers. Why they even made us in the first place.
David: Why do you think your people made me.
Holloway: We made you because we could.
David: Can you imagine how disappointing it would be for you to hear the same thing from your creator?
Holloway: *Point: Missing it* I guess it's good you can't be disappointed.

I love this scene because it proves everything that's wrong with the human characters in the movie. They're so damned clueless.

With all the scientific minds on the ship, how come it's the robot, David, who's the only one with any kind of clue and capable of seeing the Engineers for what they really are? Not a group of enlightened and benevolent beings who created Man to share the secrets of the universe with, but just a bunch of egocentric God-wannabes who in their arrogance, decided to muck around with things so far beyond them and naturally screwed themselves over when things went horribly wrong?!

Or in other words, the same chuckleheads as his own creators, just paler and balder.

the movie depicts the engineers like they are a bunch of homicidal morons that lack any form of intelligence .... he does not ask questions nor gather info about what is clearly HIS people's research result, he does not asses the situation properly and he frankly seems to act like one of those killer things from the wrong turn movie ...

This really is Ridley Scotts fault. He ****ed over his own movie by dropping the scenes.

This movie is a typical hollywood @@#@@#@.No more that any other

Hollywood made trash.

Like someone heavily wounded and I mean his guts pouring out but someone else absolutly

must ask:are you okay?Rediciulos!!

And those horror(comedy for me)movies.Someone stays at home but suddenly there is a strange noise outside.

Especially after psycho killer called and said:Im gonna get you.

Hey there is a psycho killer around!!Lets go investigate that strange noise!!

I can go all night on the Hollywood trash that comes out these days. But what for?

I know I wouldn't want to see you flesh it out further.

I can barely follow what the hell you even wrote in the first place, my 5 year old little brother can write a more cohesive sentence than you.

Are you complaining about Scream? Scream has nothing to do with Prometheus.

Troll harder buddy.

Ok Prometeous.Rediciulos scene about one crew member that was left outside because... well dead.

No way he is alive. But lets open the door to check!!And the monster rises and attacks everyone.

I mean the guy who was our female scientist lover and got the black stuff inside him.

Holloway? That didn't happen. LA Samus Aran burned him alive with a flamethrower. Fire is a pretty definitive way of putting something down.

You're thinking of the stoner Geologist, and even then. It's still an unexplained object outside of the ship, stuff like that needs to be investigated since it's suspicious. Had they ignored it you'd be complaining about how they did so and it got in the ship.

So just stop, you add nothing to the thread aside from a migraine trying to figure out what the hell you're talking about.

See I'm one of those people who loves an entire series, even if one episode/movie isn't up to par with the rest of it. Though I will go on record and say Star Wars episodes 1-3 could have been way, way, way....way, way better....this was nothing as terrible as that. I felt like Prometheus answered some of my questions about the Alien series and gave me a few new ones that I'm hoping will be answered along with the new installment. It also kept me on the edge of my seat and the death scenes were nice and gruesome. A good scifi horror film should make you cringe. So lets agree to disagree on this one OP. Your reasons for not liking this movie are simply...lets put this nicely...a bit silly. I'll just leave this gif here for you OP.

Yes, but it shouldn't be the bad writing making you cringe, it should be the ideas, the circumstances.

ur personal love for a movie does not make it any less badly paced... too cut.... too eye rolling.... and too face palm inducing that it already is

if you think this was a "horror" movie OR WAS EVEN MEANT to be one.... then your so OFF the point if you were in space and going to Pluto  you would end up on Neptune

and and I don't easily cringe .... squid baby scene I was making meat balls in the kitchen :P

what made me EYE ROLL was the obvious lame stuff ...like running in a straight line ONLY ... the LOOP HOLES extravaganza

which turns out to be mostly deleted scenes

Remember, studios are morons and they believe that audiences are morons as well.

These are also are the people who felt that films like "I Am Legend" should end with Will Smith suicide bombing the creatures, because apparently that was "less depressing" than the original ending where he made peace with them, after he realised that they were actually sentient and self-aware and by capturing, experimenting and killing the creatures, he was actually the monster who haunts their nightmares... (hence the freaking title).

Same as with Prometheus. Why bring Weyland along and have him meet with the Engineer to give us come clue and context for the most mysterious race in the film, who's motivations are the source of most of the questions within the movies... when we can just edit that boring conversation out and have it so that Weyland comes into the movie at the eleventh hour, does nothing, then dies, while the Engineer goes all "HULK SMASH!" on everything?

It's kind of sad how they really don't have any faith in their audience's intelligence. Shakespeare's plays gave his audiences in the 16th century far more credit to follow the complexity and nuances of his work, and most of his audience probably weren't even literate?!
