EXACTLY

GOD WHY I REALLY WANTED THIS MOVIE TO ME AWESOME  :(

I had the same reaction to Jumper, which essentially boiled down to, "Hey, where did the awesome movie from the trailer go?"

Prometheus looked awesome and instead ended up being a confusing, dull mess. Kind of like the end of Lost.

DarkUFO was covering Lost spoilers. Some fans had asked Lindelof if the show was about aliens, or purgatory (were they dead). He said something to the effect that the latter would be lame. And then it ended up being the latter.

The things that bothered me the most about the Lost ending was;

1: Why does the Flash-Sideways Universe/Purgatory have no supernatural elements, but the real world does?

2: In "Happily Ever After", Desmond was exposed to a huge solenoid coil and somehow experienced events in the Flash SIdeways universe. If we're supposed to believe that the FSU is Purgatory, then this is presumably a Near-Death Experience. However, this explanation still doesn't explain why he doesn't enter the afterlife as himself in the present, instead waking up in the body of his future self, who died and ended up in limbo? And how does he retain knowledge of what he was doing, in the future, after he dies?

3: Why does Sayid end up with Shannon as his soul-mate, when we've repeatedly established that his one true love is and always was Nadia?

4: Who or what are all the children that various characters possess in the FSU, if they're not really alive? What happens to Jack's son after he moves on?

Yeah... was the writer of this episode really the guy best suited to making the Prometheus script less confusing?

im also annoyed that writers think that making weird hard to understand plot = complex and deep story which is BS

look at Mass effect ... if they ended the game like ME1 or 2 everyone would be happy sure it would not win any story of the century awards but ME was not that super original in the first place

instead we got stuck with some weird matrix reloaded wannabe story that basically defecated on everything the players ever did in the game series

A bad ending can drag an entire story down. Why? Because a story works with all it's parts as a whole and when 1 aspect suffers they all do.

Having a clear beginning, middle and ending is important to me, so is having a worthwhile theme that is consistent. Stories that ignore that drop in quality as a result.

I wish that ME3 had allowed us to question the Catalyst even more than we were allowed to, even with the extra conversations from EC and Leviathan, because the Catalyst was so vague and so without context, that everything it told us was practically useless information.

Take his conversation about the Crucible, when he evades your asking about who created it;

Catalyst: You would not know them and there is not enough time to explain...

Me-at-Screen: First off, who's fault is that? I don't care if I won't know them, just give me a name! Secondly, no time to explain? You've been around since forever! What, do you have a hot date later? I think you have enough time on your hands to take a second out of exterminating the galaxy for the umpteenth-million time to stop and answer my freaking questions!

:pinched:

For something to be hard to understand, there must be something to understand in the first place.

Thank you OP for saying what I have said for years since this pile of trash came out..........

"Turn off your brain"  Why should we have to turn off our brains to watch a movie. Surely said movie should make some kind of logical sense and with all the hype this movie was generating I had very high expectations.........

I should have taken note of who the writers were and that would have lowered my expectations....

Oh another retarded thing they did. "let's bring this alien head onboard and try to revive it"

That's just insanely stupid..........

And then there's the medical pod on blondies part of the ship. Rigged for men only and she's not a man so why did she bring it which makes it so OBVIOUS that Weyland was onboard. And which part of the ship were he and his minders hiding in all this time?

Also how can two supposedly bright scientists WITH mapping equipment get lost in the area they are mapping?

- the location is actively jamming their comprehension of the map

- the engineers have been anticipating their arrival for a millennia

- panic/group dynamics

They needed someone like James Vega, Krogan or Bunz, because musclez sometimes work better than mindz.

Ridley Scott has not made a good movie since American Gangster (2007)

I don't blame Ridley Scott as much as Lindelof for the shoddy script... Sphaights had a good story but they didn't like his story and butchered it to fit their story.

Yeah, if not for the cut scenes, I wish they were in the finished film. These videos are crap in quality, but I think they are the only ones on youtube.

The engineer speaks:

The  comment from one of the posters on the video is very well put:

"This scene shows the incredible power of both editing, and context. The engineer doesn't randomly kill them now. He is motivated to kill the crew and the human race based on the actions of Peter Weyland. The arrogance, the nerve, the barbarism! THAT makes for something compelling. That's direct, and personal. "

It never felt like a random killing in theater cut either. (additional) Reasons for Engineer's decision to do what he did are less communicated is all. If Prometheus were an ordinary movie, I think we could have some kind of a discussion about less-is-more as a method  and whether or not  it is a good call in this case.

Prometheus is not an ordinary movie. More or less every single word that comes out of anyone in this movie is out of place, stupid and damaging to the atmosphere visuals set. Every single character is just another pile of random, stupid and incredible decision making.

Less there is dialogue in Prometheus and less of it is understood the better.  In full seriousness, with only token amount of passive agressive grief, I'd recommend anyone who hasn't seen this movie to watch it dubbed in any language said person doesn't understand, with no subtitles. You are guaranteed to have a little better story this way. That way, it becomes little easier to try to  appreciate what good there is in Prometheus.

See now that all makes much more sense seeing the cut scenes.........  Now we know why he went on a rampage. Weyland's arrogance to think he was better then his creators...  That's just pure arrogance...  It's a pity everyone else had to suffer in his rampage for that.......

BTW why did David spy on Shaw's dreams so much? It felt to me like he was doing a bit of mindrape on her without her knowing.
