Speaking of classics, I really want to watch a new 'Robinson Crusoe' or 'The Treasure Island' movie.

^ We are to the Engineers as the puppies are to us.
David is perplexed by the human need to believe in something, to not just except the cold, hard facts that there is nothing special about our existence; something the film is ironically trying to prove. It is his reason for being fascinated with Shaw, she has strong beliefs. Unfortunately, some people mistook his interests for sexual attraction to her (i'll admit it seemed he was competing at times with her husband...but there is another reason behind that bit of animosity). He focuses on her dreams because her dreams again deal with human belief in God, gods, and an afterlife.
Thank you............ I liked this explanation.. I never saw his interest in her as lust but to me it did seem a bit creepy.

Yep........ That's about it.
If the "Jesus" thing was true as to how they wanted the story to go I'd say what we did to that Engineer was enough to show the homeworld we were just not ready to advance more, and that they were quite fedup with what we did. Maybe by their standards what we did by killing that Engineer was beyond their patience and they just decided "what the eff, blow them up!" and had decided we were not worthy...
The mere fact that this film inspires this much debate is a testament to its thematic strengths

I view healthy movie debate as a good thing

My fav scene:

My fav scene:
I like how she can waltz around later like it's nothing despite having her abs sliced open.

I know..... I saw this and afterwards she's like running and jumping and all. Just would not happen. And if you have had surgery where they cut that part of your body open you can't run about for a few weeks.
Been there done that. I had my abdomen cut open for bowel surgery and it was a huge cut from belly button down to my crotch area I couldn't walk or run around for 4 weeks at least..
I like how she can waltz around later like it's nothing despite having her abs sliced open.
Ridley: “You’ve just suffered the most intense emotional trauma a woman could possibly experience. You’ve also had the muscles in your abdominal wall severed and then crudely stapled together again. Honestly, in your condition taking a dump would be something of an adventure. So when you’re vigorously running around the place and jumping up and down, and wrestling enormous alien monsters, and running very hard across an alien landscape trying not to get rolled on by a large alien spaceship, and rappelling down a fifty foot drop, try to remember to say ‘ow’ a bit. No pressure. ”:: Noomi vigerously runs around the place and jumps up and down, and wrestles enormous alien monsters, and runs across an alien landscape trying not to get rolled on by a large alien spaceship, and rappels down a fifty foot drop::Ridley: “I said could you say ‘ow’ a bit?”Noomi: “You did? Oh yeah. ‘Ow’. Wait – did you want me to say ‘a bit.’ too? Or is that just inferred?”Ridley: “Briiliant! Cut!”
I like how she can waltz around later like it's nothing despite having her abs sliced open.
And her womb ripped out.
Let's not forget that.

This movie is a great way to spend time with a recent surgery patient. Or with your mom on Mother's day.

Especially if your Mom is a nurse like mine. ![]()
