Edited the title to clarify. This is not a topic about healing being gone from DA:I, and whether you like that or not.

Now is a good a time as any to examine what exactly we think healing does and its practical uses, since healing magic is much more rare than it was in previous installments of the series. One of the most prominent concerns is the high sexualization of the setting, in which promiscuity is not looked down upon.

Don't take this as a condemnation of sexuality, but I had always assumed that the only reason that characters such as Isabela and Zevran weren't syphilitic husks was because they were regularly receiving treatment from a mage. Since characters like Anders and every single Mage in DA:O were the exception rather than the rule, where does that leave the safety of promiscuity in the setting?

This was the original post:

TITLE: Does no more healing magic mean...

that std motherships like Isabela and Zevran are going to die?

It seems like a bit of an ignominious way to die. Or is the absence of healing magic a momentary thing, connected to the Fade shenanigans going on?

What do you guys think?

We as mages use to be able to heal, but then some gits, namely Anders, ruined it for the rest of us. And now mages can't heal. Can't be trusted, they say.

Healers are rarely and mages can heal.

I think it just means that none of our mage Inquisitors ever learned healing magic.  Yeah, it kind of sucks, considering the original headcanon for my Qunari mage was that one of his focuses was on healing magic, but...oh well.  It especially sucks if you're the kind of person who relied heavily on healing magic in the past.

At least they've got a class-non-specific revive option.  All you have to do is stay still for a while as your character is helping their comrade up.

I truly felt that this was a weird direction to take the game when it comes to healing but I have to play it first to get a real opinion of it.

I love the idea of not being able to spam heal ur party members to be honest. If they can manage to balance the game properly it'll make the tactical aspect of the DA combat system much more rewarding when you put the effort into it  :D

It's just a change to the game mechanics, healing magic still exists in Thedas.. they just made it so spirit magic is used for something other than spamming heal spellls.

..so that probably means the std curing magics still exists.

It means that stealth and certain other abilities are also there to get you out of trouble, not just to deal damage.
