As had been reported, the player will have the chance to mold the Inquisition in matters ranging beyond moral choices and new additions to Skyhold Keep. Indeed, the organization will come to control a number of "strongholds" that, once under the Inquisition's control, can be rebuilt to the player's specifications. The upgrades in question are at the moment limited to three known types: Espionage, Commerce and Military.

Below I have placed a picture of Griffon's Keep in the spoilers. As I understand it this a former Grey Warden outpost that the inquisition can appropriate for its own ends. In its current state it is in disrepair and has no noticeable heraldy (although this is difficult to make out from the picture).

Spoiler

Next, we shall consider the following options for how to fix this place up.

Espionage: A rather unknown element at the moment, one wonders how such a network will benefit the player. Perhaps it will accrue Inquisition Points?

The keep with this upgrade, while difficult to make out in this night shot, showcases drab banners and tent canvases across the battlements. Perhaps these features indicate the moral ambiguity of its activities?

Spoiler

Commerce: Simple in name and purpose - it makes you money! Although it is questionable as to how the money will be provided and just how useful it will be in the base game.

By far the clearest picture, the keep now looks far more inviting to travelers with bright pendants and colorful banners across its battlements.

Spoiler

Military: A battle-ready keep certainly, although it's true usefulness may lie in optimal story progression rather than any boon the player. For instance, back in Dragon Age: Awakening the upgrades installed at Vigil's Keep and the player's choice of troop placement ensured the survival of the keep and the protection certain populations during off-screen events the player was not present to witness.

Griffon's Keep showcases some impressive upgrades to the battlements, with some of the buildings overhauled or fortified with more durable material. Finally, instead of banners it appears that new murder holes have been installed along the walls.

Spoiler

I will try to keep this post updated as more information is released. What do you guys think so far?

Yep, its gone. Strongholds just give you 2-3 quests and a fast travel location now.
