Understood. Though depending on the distance of the backflip (Sera did a huge one in a video), it might Not possible for others either.more like because of leg lenght but yeah

At some point, in a game where launch fire from their hands and can impact the ground hard enough to rupture it, we have to concede that concessions to realism have been made in the interests of interesting gameplay design.
I get that Varric doing backflips may not be visually appealing to some people, but its a heroic ability and he's a "hero" able to utilise it.
If you are going to start race gating abilities because "it looks silly" then you need to do that across the board,
Dislike the ability animation, fine, but lets not lay yet another restriction upon the poor Dwarf race in the name of "realism".

I think they are concerend the market they are appealing to will see an unfamiliar interface, as foreign to them as a controller centric interface is to some of us. They will see a game they don't get using a control method they don't understand and decide its probably not for them.
"Better" is completely subjective. Its Better to you becasue thats what you know and understand, you've played DA before and know how to leverage the UI camera control to your advantage. To someone who had never played a game without a controller, a keyboard centric UI could well be a deal breaker.
If that's the case, why take your pc only customers for granted? Never in the past has a game done this, and NOT shown how the title will be played on PC strictly for console oriented marketing reasons.
That is absurd. It's foolish, and can easily backfire if it turns out there's some quirk of the pc UI that pc players don't like. Then you risk losing sales in a quadrant you were apparently assuming sales would be guaranteed.

Varric did crazy back flips in DA2, the guys in these videos are spamming the rogue move that does the back flip. I used to do it all the time with Hawke - if anything, it's irritating but there's nothing new here. Maybe you just didn't notice it in DA2 since Varric is always pretty much off screen during the fights if you are a close up mele / tank role instead of a mage?
If we're going to argue realism, who is currently doing back flips and shooting a volley of arrows at people now a days? Just because you're short and stubby doesn't mean you can't be graceful and have an affinity for amazing gymnastics, especially if you trained your entire life in these skills. (as I would assume Varric has.)

The combat does, sadly, look like it has been pretty much ripped straight out of DA2, now with extra added flashiness for good measure. I'm not sure it helps the people they have chosen to play it show absolutely zero interest in playing the game in a more tactical way and only seem interested in running around bish, bash, boshing everything.
Personally I think everything about combat looks pretty horrible but maybe it'll look and play better when played top down.

Pretty much. Bioware actually made the same over the top anime-style DA2 combat which was already heavily criticized. Inqusition combat look awful and graphics are bad too. Wasn't the much hyped Frosbite engine by EA supposed to provide excellent graphics? They said they took inspiration from both DA:O and DA2, now I'm interested in what exactly they borrowed from Origins.

Varric reminds me of Yoda.

In my Playthrough he is going to use daggers instead of Bianca. ![]()

You saying you cant see the extremely good graphics in the vid? Regardless if its max settings or not the graphics look awesome. If you just dont think theyre that good/great thats your opinon but I just dont get how you can say the graphics look bad period.

I'm not massively bothered by the graphics, I'm fine with them as they are but they aren't that great compared to what some might have been expecting, The Witcher 2 still looks better and that was released years ago.

I just want to ask. Is your definition of good graphics realism? Because I don't recall Dragon Age ever being realistic or trying to be. It's always been stylized. It's great to see games not going down the brown nitty gritty route. I'm bored of that. Inquisition is pure eye candy. It's a colorful and rich world. Frostbite is more about environment effects, lighting, and performance. Any engine can make stunning graphics. Even Unity. But Frostbite can make those stunning graphics run smooth whilst improving the performance of engine heavy effects like area fog, destructive environments, and water fx. All of which Bioware have included within Inquisition.

While I wouldn't call them bad by any means, I don't see "extremely good" in the graphics either. Part of the quality has probably been lost due it being a youtube video, but it's definitely not on par with that video about the world they released months ago. Now it's back to very obviously being a game with a game world. I know people here hate the comparison, but Witcher 2 and 3 both seem to look better.

If you see extremely good graphics in this video, you have pretty low standards.

I can hardly call it an eye candy. As it was already mentioned even Witcher 2 looks better. I want less flashy combat with more realistic animations, so you could actually see what's happening on the battlefield. It seems it's too much to ask from modern RPGs.

My standards are not as low as you might seem to think. Not to mention how would you even know what my standards are? Maybe extremely was to strong a word but you and I also seem to differ on what good graphics are. Lets leave it at tat shall we.

Oh snap, we can have our own opinion. Very funny Star Fury... not.

The game is pretty Ill give you that...but so far from the current vids its looking more like DA2 just with (somewhat slower combat) better texutures and lighting...The trailers from eariler this year look so much better, guess they were toned up for wow factor maybe.

Seems like this was the motto while programming the combat.(is this guy still a bioware developer?) Why does every ability, specially from non-mages, have to create a firework? The combat looks like directly taken from some korean mmo and put's most jrpgs i have played into shame in terms of flashiness and exaggeration. Less would have been more. Too bad, bioware

I really don't think you know what the word lazy means. If you did, you'd know that you are objectively wrong in how you just used it.
Your point is? If you can't see that ripping most combat animations from DA 2 is straight up laziness then I feel sorry for you. Can't see why you even bothered replying with such a pointless comment, the fact that you are wrong in your statement makes it even funnier.
