I think it's fine when there is a single flip to get away (I've known heavy people who can do all kinds of seemingly gravity-defying stuff like that), but the player was spamming something. We've seen Varric in other gameplay videos, and he's never been that fliptastic.

Didn't he jump backwards to get away from trouble in DA2? That seems more realistic for him IMO.

For anyone wanting Varric to channel his inner ninja, it looks like DAI has that covered. :P

I found that weird in the video too. It did look faster paced than the previous combat videos. I'm not sure if that's because whoever was playing never used the pause features or that rogues naturally feel faster than warriors. Like watching Cam play the other day it seems two-hand warriors have a noticeable difference in their combat speed where swings have real weight on them. Maybe rogues are just a faster style to play because that guy seemed to focus mostly on Varric and the Inquisitor? Seeing ninja flips and warp attacks definitely give an illusion the combat is faster. I don't think the other videos were lying though...you seem to at least have control over the pacing of the combat. Remember, you can always pause, use a two-hand warrior or just get rid of what you think is ridiculous abilities.

He didn't seem to like Cassandra very much.  <_<

Yeah, and even then when he did switch to her her tone was much slower. I'm thinking rogues are meant to be cranked up in speed due to the class/style. Daggers don't exactly have much weight to them at all and rogues are honed killers if not agile.

Which actually makes sense. I mean, the Cole gameplay we've seen was quite fast-paced, and otherwise before today we'd only seen Sera who's obviously an archer. Well and Varric but Varric's Varric, I guess.

I do wonder if we'll able to make a superfast S&S warrior like we could in Dragon Age II, with a combination of Haste and Barrage. Probably not considering Haste has been changed quite substantially and we don't even know if Barrage's in the game.

It's not as fast-paced as DA2

It still looks less realistic than DA:O's combat.

I'm not gonna lie, the combat doesn't look super good, but it does still look fun. Closing those rifts looks super cool though.

So I just rewatched the video (fourth time, haha), and while I noticed earlier that the chevalier (I am going to assume that it's a chevalier) with the giant shield was there, I didn't pay attention to him until now. It seems to me that he's another of those 'tower shield'-warriors we've seen before; the Templar Defender from the Hinterlands gameplay, and a Venatori soldier in the Western Approach, back in the 30 min. demo of gameplay that came out over year ago.

It sure seems the combat designers love this enemy type, and I have a feeling we'll be going to see it quite a lot in the game.

None of the combats are that realistic, DAO was too slow and DA2 was too fast-paced

DA:I tones it down and makes it more weighted

To me it looks a lot like DA2's combat, maybe just less fast-paced.

Is it wrong that the first thing I thought when I saw that was:

"Wow! That ambient sound design is really sweet!"

Honestly, there doesn't seem to be that much of a difference between the console version and the PC version graphically speaking, but then again that video only goes up to 1080p, which is probably a lot lower than what most hardcore gamers can get out of their rigs when they crank up the settings (and the inevitable texture packs are probably going to make that even higher). Also, YouTube is kinda YouTube, and the video quality sometimes suffers.

But yes, new gameplay! Glad to see the game doesn't favour tactical over action or vice versa, both styles look like a joy to play. And I'm glad to see new demons - I remember that Gaider mentioned the idea of a Despair demon in an interview a couple years ago. Think of all the storyline possibilities! Really exited to finally see it.

Agree with how bloody stupid a back flipping Varric looks.

Apart from that graphically it looks amazing.

Hopefully they've tweaked combat a bit since then. Although I'd guess the backflips are here to stay.

I thought it looked significantly faster, and the Varric backflips looked a bit to OTT.

The backflips are fine for people like Sera and the Inquisitor, it's just Varric were it feels off

Regardless of my opinion on anything else, I will say that DA:I's graphics are quite a leap from its predecessors. The elves shown from the character creator are cute as hell (I'm quite fond of the sadfaced redhead) and the sunlight in this video looks really nice.

I think it's just the fact that the player is spamming it that makes it feel off.

So the mission description for 'Fallen Sister' says 'Find Lady Costeau'... Isn't that one of the NPCs we saw a picture of a while ago?

Agreed to a point. I'm not sure how much sense it makes to be back flipping holding a bow with a quiver arrows strapped to the back. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

These silly arcade gamey things they do break immersion, but I'll get over it.

I wish the camera didn't move so much with all the back flipping. It got incredibly dizzying. Same thing happened when switching between characters. I think I'll just avoid switching between characters out of tactical camera.

Not going to sugar coat this anymore...  but *that's* why the console gameplay looks so bad.  If this truly were pc gameplay everyone would see it.  But they still don't want it out there yet.

Honestly, there doesn't seem to be that much of a difference between the console version and the PC version graphically speaking....

Where is the console footage?  Everything so far has been on PC with controller plugged in.

It's all PC Gameplay, which is to say, everything we've seen so far has been on a PC, but people want to see the PC UI, not this clunky interface.

The EGX multiplayer demo was apparently run on an X-Box One.
