With the world in chaos and most nations templar and mages fighting each other, it would be the best time for the Qunari to invade, the only advantage were the mage and templar orders and without them i wonder if all of thedas will be crushed beneath the Qun.

anyone else believe this will be a vaild concern during DAI?

Not really.

Foreign invasion has a tendency to make people rally.

I think the Qunari are more concerned about all the demons falling out of the sky than anything.

They're a practical people.

My kind wouldn't pick now to attack. Even if they were to succeed, the land is torn, as is the veil. They would have to fight the demons, ending in their kata--Death. Not to mention, they'll likely have to enter the Fade to fix it. Where as in Qunari customs, it's forbidden to enter.

^^

The Qunari have agents across Thedas reporting back to them. They won't invade Thedas while the Inquisition is trying to close the Breach.

After the events of Inquisition, they may invade. However, they would have to get Seheron under control and destroy the pirates in the north first, then they can invade.

Honestly the only thing i can see stopping a qunari invasion directly after the chaos of this game, is plot armor. They conquered Thedas, (going in with zero knowledge of the enemy they would face) spreading all the way down to the Freemarches, now that they know their enemy and have had relatively minimal issues to deal with that would effect their military growth, this is the perfect time.

That is why i think it would be best saved for the final game so that there is actually an outcome in which they win, also take into consideration that they arent universally accepted as an evil force, so making them the antagonist would be like making Templars the "Big Bad" of a future installment, theyre not their to be the evil force that everyone must fight, its a much more complicated issue

I'm guessing the next invasion will not happen. At least for a few more Ages, if ever.

I'm thinking that there will be a great upheaval in Seheron if not a little farther north. The Qunari can't be the only people in the north, and perhaps there would be an organized rebellion. Probably even a schism within the Qun. What madness that would be, right? Perhaps a non-qunari Qunari finds a slight flaw or develops the philosophy further which is rejected by the more traditional qunari Qunari but accepted more by other Qunari, causing conflict. Perhaps the idea of changing it slightly for easier conversion causes disagreement among the leaders of the Qun.

Perhaps a group of dissenters/doubters organizes and proposes a new philosophy, maybe even a new religion, getting the Tal-Vashoth to join them (or a good number of them at least).

This conflict may weaken the great Qunari Empire, which would allow the Thedosians to invade north, maybe even open up trade with the north.

Right now would be dumb unless they want to rule a world full of demons

To be honest I think the Qunari invasion will happen -- it seems inevitable -- but not in DAI. It's too big a deal to heap it in with the crisis already present in DAI, I would think they'd invest more focus into it when it does happen. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a major feature of the storyline in a future DA title, but for now it's still building up to that - the Qunari biding their time and trying to learn of and understand as much as they can about the movements of the rest of the world around them. The more they witness the inefficient, squandering ways of other races in comparison to the focus of their Qun, the closer it pushes them towards taking actions to 'rectify' that.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was some offensive with a group of Qunari in you travels though (besides Tal Vashoth), if not in relation to Iron Bull's story and what is expected of him, then other scouting parties. It would be a waste not to continue to build upon what they've already started with the whole 'Qunari invasion' aspect of DA.

all good comments, but i have to say, is Tevinter under demon attack? i dont believe so, the tear is in the south of thedas, a perfect time for Tevinter to fall to the Qun

Wouldn't be surprised if the game ended with a qunari fleet landing on some beach or whatever.

Look wevhad empty threats from sten and a dead airshok. Qunari aren't that strong, strong as hell but beatable tevinter is holding the line while the southern states war amongst themselves while a breach has occured. Beside qunari have enough issues with rebels, and domestic terrorism

I don't think Inquisitions main game will have a cliffhanger ending like that. In a potential expansion however i wouldn't be surprised at all to see them give alot of hints to a hypothetical DA4 plot involving a qunari invasion :)

I could see the invasion happening but it would probably be more of a conversion of people to the Qun.

I quite strongly doubt a focused and efficient people like the Qunari would be showing all their cards prior to whatever invasion they're likely planning. The biggest mistake you can make about an enemy is underestimating them, and while you may see Sten and Arishok's warning as empty threats, I'd wager to say that the Qunari have a hell of a lot more Intel on the numerous nations they're scouting around then any of said nations have on them. When it comes down to it, men like the Arishok were expendable - a necessary sacrifice - in comparison to whatever information his men took back with them when they finally left Kirkwall. They are learning about the rest of the world, and they know the power of such knowledge.

I think when that invasion does occur, it will be brutal.

It would be epic to see a dragon age game, set in Tevinter, with the qunari invasion ongoing, and at the same time, the sixth blight begins.

I'd guess it might be a big part of the storyline for Dragon Age 4.

They can be as brutal as they like. It will make little difference. We will bbq the cow people with waves of flame. We have stood alone against them, they cannot even conquer seheron. If they invade Thedas will unite and crush the vile cows and their amusing little qun.

It... depends. Gun powder is not as big an advantage as people might think, and they cripple their mages. I could see them doing very well around the coasts - the freedom of the sea grants a people huge strategic mobility - but further in land? Not so much, no. I think they're not militarily that much more advanced than their neighbours and supporting armies deep in foreign lands has always been a difficult thing to do. Even in modern times it's incredibly expensive to project power that sort of distance.

I would love it if this happened in either an expansion or the next game. They've already proven they could do it with no knowledge if their enemies once.

Now, with all the intelligence they've gathered, the weakened state of the other nations, and the amount of converts that could blend right into normal life very here that Tallis hinted at in MotA...

An invasion is coming. It's not a matter of if, but when. And I will be psyched to put myself against the might of the Qunari in one play through, and submit to the Qun and fight for the Qunari in another.

I have the best plan as to how people can defeat the qunari. Go at night to their camp and steal their swords. They'd be disgraced, go rampant among each others for a while until they lose the will to fight and live.

It's so easy.
