It seems like he has more videos of his gameplay section posted already! Edit: Whoops didn't see the 'coming soon' bit

 

Only negative I could think of while watching the vid (excluding the horrible female running animations that I've already mentioned) is that it looks like there's an overwhelming amount of visual effects during combat. Looked pretty confusing. I hope there's a way to turn it down in the options.

 

I hope someone fix Cassandra animations after the game is release because it is really bad.

Nothing new. The Witcher 2 had the exactly the same but 3+ years ago.

 

It reminds me of pressing tab to highlight stuff in Infinity engine games. It's SO helpful. I'm thrilled it's in Inquisition.

 

Edit: I think Cassandra looks fine. I like the female stance way better than DA2's. I loved how Aveline was rather butch and used the "male" stance in DA2, but I feel like people are applying that to Cassandra because of it. Just because she has short hair and is a tough warrior does not necessarily mean she's the same as Aveline, including gender presentation.

This guy narrating is pissing me off. Talks over what little dialogue there was and clearly has no idea about the series or mechanics at all.

 

If he were female there would be screaming of "fake gamer girl" all over the place.

- This is the first I've seen of the "bend down and manually revive fallen party members" thing. Is this something anybody can do by default, is it an ability (Rogues only, or anybody?) that you get via levelling, or is it done via crafting potions?

Anyone can do it, but it must be done right over the fallen character and it takes awhile to get them up. As mentioned, there's also a Revive spell for mages, which is instant and can be cast at range.

Jeez cut the guy some slack. Not everybody plays DA as much as people on the BSN. It's ok for someone to not know about the characters and gameplay.

I do admit. I think the Alpha gameplay looked better than this. Heck even DA2 looked good pre release and then after i played it for a while I preferred DAO Combat overall.   DAI seems to be DA2 copy/paste with  more disorienting flashiness that makes it very unappealing.  Think half of combat design is laziness due to copy/paste and half is just flash

This so much. I rather enjoyed the commentary actually, he explained the circumstances of the playtesting and gave his thoughts on the combat, and come on, the newbie lore comments is fun stuff

And I agree with what others have said, I really don't like all of the visual effects in the combat the more I see it. When it's mage abilities it makes sense there would be a lot of flurries of colors and what not, but a warrior does not need to glow blue from doing a charging attack, etc.

eh, if it was the same as DA2 id be extremely happy, but this looks like Diablo 3....

True, not everyone does, however that doesn't stop one from looking up information on wikipedia. If you are there to post information, at least take a few minutes to look up what you will be talking about. No need to be someone who has played the series for years, but being informed is the professional thing to do. He didn't need to know everything, simply the characters names or that Dragon Age II isn't Origins 2. Literally would take less than 5 minutes.

 

Anyway, wish we would have seen tactical cam. Combat is also bit... flashy but I can deal with that.

Not everybody that plays dragon age spends there free time on the bioware forums. Not everybody that plays dragon age have a bachelor's degree in thedosian folk lore. Stop being judgmental.

 

The least, very absolute least he can do is learn the characters names.

The dragon in the "Coming Soon Dragon Fights!" little thing looked different and awesome.  I'm excited for that video.

 

Also I'm loving the look of the game and the combat.  I find it looks incredibly fun.

Chiming in with an echo of what others have said: not all journalists are experts at this sort of stuff, and we have no idea of their time demands. The point is not to pander to hardcore fans like us who follow absolutely everything - it's for people who may have never even heard of the game. Granted, there is a point where I think it's sloppy journalism, particularly if written, but I don't think anything was that bad.

 

The "chick" comment has nothing to do with lore, I just think it's a really demeaning word to use for women (at least a lot of the time).

This is why you let people who are fans of the series play not noobs who play cod all day. Next time i hope bioware let a decent player play this or do it themself not cod players.
