Man... can you really blame Skyrim when most people play on the Adept setting? On top of that the pc is a prophesied demigod built specifically for dragon slaying.
Even if that's true, dragons are supposed to have extremely strong hides and bones that should be much more resistant to damage than the game portrays them as being. The problem isn't the damage that dragons deal or don't deal, the problem is that dragons take damage from blows that they should be shrugging off and they don't fight the way that a dragon should fight. Dragons should basically just use hit and run tactics, fly around and spray fire and then fly away to wait and attack you another day. Dragons shouldn't be landing on the ground because they are much too bulky to be effective. And dragons are supposed to be smart enough to know this.

The dragon has over 178 thousand HP? I thought the reason they got rid of healing spells was so they didn't have to jack up enemies' HP anymore. So much for that theory.
The dragon was way over their level.

It was only level 17. Not that much of a difference.

I like the circular logic here. We need to jack up enemy hp and damage because players have healing spells. We need to give players healing spells because enemies have too much hp and do too much damage.

The players were level 12...dragons are meant to be very difficult encounters. So a level 12 player should not be killing a level 17 dragon, in my opinion, unless they're incredibly good, which these players are not.

Dragon looks great! Good to see it stomp the group. Also that troll thing looks cool, picking up rocks in the area rather than conjuring them from nothing is an appreciated detail.

this would work if every class had ranged weapons, but they don't. Also all the dragons in the Dragon Age games attack the PC and his team from the ground. The Dragons of this world are clearly not as intelligent as you think all dragons should be.

This. An optional dragon boss should be difficult for a same-level party. Almost 50% higher level should be nigh-impossible. And it's kinda difficult to say how much difference that is when we know so little about power progression with leveling.

well, after seeing these fights its obvious to me that a seasoned veteran could possibly take down a higher lvl dragon or troll though it would be a long battle.... the heavy hitting skills of both enemies in the video had "tells" As soon as i see that tell, im going into my tactical camera and ordering everyone to do their dodge move at the last second. Mages its the teleport step thing, warriors is the jump and dive, not sure about rogues but they have it. This limits the heavy one shot damage.... plus being able to run around and revive characters without a spell or potion will help as long as you can keep one person alive

Yes, and Dragonrend should of been one of the first shouts you learn just to circumvent this logic issue.
