So far from what we can see of these pictures nothing has changed

Now so far from what we can see all the hair styles look pretty much the same as each other and the facial hair styles are limited to stubble and redneck styles, there isnt even a proper beard.
Now I can understand that Bioware is going to make some design choices that I am not going to agree with because after all it is Bioware who are making the game, not me. In the end Bioware is going to make the game they want to make, not the game I want them to make. And if I were to make a game like Mass Effect odds are I would do things a bit differently. For instance if I were to make an RPG set in space I would probably have made the player start off as a mercenary for hire or a bounty hunter rather than an elite operative that works for an orginization that is immune to galactic law. I would have also made the story more personal and relevant to the character (Like Baldurs Gate where you try to find your stepfathers killer and find out why he wants you dead or Planescape: Torment where you try to find your characters identity and find out the secret behind your characters immortality) instead of the cliche story where the hero saves the galaxy for the greater good. In the end Bioware is going to write the story it wants to write and make the game it wants to make, I understand that. What I dont understand is why they decide to give us such a pitiful character creator.
Now forgive me if I am wrong but I always assumed that game developers included the character creation tools in their games to give the player the chance to put their own personal touch on their game and to be able to create the character they want to play rather than play the character the game developer forces us to play. The whole reason we have character creation toolsis to be able to play the character we envisage to fill the role even if it is not the character Bioware envisage for the role. Sure the character we create may not fit the role of a soldier in the military but it should be our choice to make. Now I can understand why Bioware diddnt allow long hairstyles as it doesnt really fit a soldier, I could make do without the long hairstyles but I still think we should get the option to give our male shepard long hair. The hairstyles are understandable but there is still no excuse for the shortage beard styles other than the laziness of the devs who refuse to put them in.
The character creation tool that is used at the moment in both the Mass Effect games pretty much forces the player to create a character based on what Bioware think Shepard should look like rather than what the player thinks Shepard should look like. With the total lack of customization options currently in the character creation tool Bioware would probably be just as well off to to scrap the character customization tool for male characters and force everyone to play the default Vandaloo Shepard.
It is a good thing that you give us a variety in helmets as I will probably try to hide my Shepards face behind the helmet for the entire game
