Hmm, didn't notice that. But it certainly seems this way.

This is quite sad, because it was actually interesting, how 50 gold coins were a lot of money in previous games. Now 170+ just lays in a random chest...

I think Mike said something about this on twitter.

Edit: Nvm, can't find it.

Its been said by Bioware that these videos are of older versions of the game so the AI bugs/floating blocks and such are not present in the current game.

Wait... older versions of the game?  So is the Twitch video the most recent version of the game, or what?  Does anybody know?

I doubt the Twitch video is the most recent - didn't they say crafting was broken during that session?

I'm seeing way too much swinging at empty air and still making contact in these last few videos...

Well, that's interesting in a way, but this was a bugfest/glitchfest.

Really liked the sound effects though.

I just finished watching the video. Looks good but yeah, way too buggy. I'm concerned about the AI. I haven't seen a DAI video that lacked AI bugs yet. If you fight enemies who are dumb then it's not going to make for very tactical encounters. Buggy companion AI almost forces you to play one way too which will be pause+play since they're unreliable. Hopefully this was a much older build to the game because I don't have confidence if this is a recent build that all this will be fixed at launch.

I think I'm probably the minority of the minority here but the quests themselves looks awful and the open world doesn't do much for me. >_> If this is what the actual game will be like I been fooling myself I think. The entire thing combat/outposts/quests/dialog reminded me of questing in a mmorpg with the quests being voice acted.

*Spoilers from video*
The worst one was the "find proof" one that seemed to be taken right out of a online game with finding three journals around the world. It also looked beyond weird in the first outpost where the player could have a conversation while controlling Casandra. I'm not a fan of modern open world games but I had hoped this game would be more like Gothic 1/2 open world and less like Skyrim/random mmorpg.

I don't want to grind or do mmo-quests in a singleplayer game and that was the experience that video reminded me of. Especially since the final mansion reminded me of the Scarlett monastary in wow.

Those types of quest predate mmorgs.  Fallout 1 and 2 for example were loaded down with them.  Elder scrolls games have a lot of em.  They aren't mmorg, more they are common quests for open world type games that have a lot of area to explore.

DAO had some as well. DA2 not so much since you didn't have to really explore.

It is an older build. It doesn't appear that the players have used tactics at all.

Plus, if you watch the dragon video, it actually fought pretty well intelligently, as did the giant.

I was hoping to see more of Tactics. Is it just me, or does it look like DAI doesn't have the Tactics rules anymore? That would really sadden me as I had so much fun with that. :(

You mean, the Tactics like "enemy, lowest health, attack?"  That has to still be in the game... how else would the computer know what special abilities to use and when to use them?  The basic Behaviors weren't complex enough to handle that...  Although, a lot of other things that I thought were cornerstones of the combat system were removed, so I could be wrong about that.

I mean exactly that.

I've seen a couple of video's showing the Tactics screen, and all it looks like is something like (+) use the skill (-) don't use the skill. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Tactics were fun to use on normal mode, but completely went out the window if you were playing on nightmare. The friendly fire (especially in DA2) of some moves would outright kill you, and barely put a dent in the enemies health. Having Varric use Bursting arrow, Anders use Cone of Cold or Fenris use Mighty Blow as part of tactics is capable of literally wiping out your entire party in one shot, while a hurlock hit by the same skill only loses a quarter of its life. Pause and play micro managing is the only way to go if you're playing on anything above normal (friendly fire on, of course).

Well it does say on that screen to hit X for tactics settings, if they exist that's probably where they will be and it was mentioned in the combat Q+A not that long ago that options like when to use potions or attacking the leader's target still existed.

I use tactics all the time in DA2 even on Nightmare. Give Aveline fire runes and you can drop firestorms on her to obliterate enemies. Though friendly fire is why 1 melee + 3 ranged is the best party set up. Tactics are also great for setting up Cross Class combos. For example, set Anders to cast Crushing Prison on Staggered Enemies. I always have extensive tactic pages for all my characters,

Exactly. Merrill was so much quicker on taking care of staggered enemies. I think I even have a video on YouTube where I try to take care of it in a certain fight, but couldn't, while Merrill gets it every time.

Yeah, I suppose. I always roll 2 melee and 2 ranged, and that doesn't work too well.

For example, set Anders to cast Crushing Prison on Staggered Enemies. I always have extensive tactic pages for all my characters,

See, things like Crushing Prison. Stone Fist, Evade etc, skills that don't even cause friendly fire, are a different beast entirely. I guess I should've said that having a character completely controlled by tactics on nightmare is s bad thing. Although if you do do that than bless your heart. Sure, you can set it so Isabella goes into Stealth at 50% health, or that Merrill uses Chain Lightning on a staggered enemy, but those skills never endanger your own party.

What I was saying, and if anybody does do this please elaborate, is that skills like Mighty Blow, Cone of Cold, Miasmic Flask, Bursting Arrow etc. are not suited for tactics because they can harm your own party members. The fact that you set Anders to use Crushing Prison on a staggered enemy has nothing to do with this, although the firestorm example has merit.

I just find micromanaging pause and play more practical for nightmare. I guess it boils down to me thinking I'd rather have ALL skills in tactics or none at all.  I'd love to see a video where someone is playing on Nightmare and never pauses because their tactics are so sublime and perfectly tuned.

Good to know we can give our party a good old fashioned Infiltrator revive in this game.

I wish I could play like that. I've always been jealous of console players who can target just by aiming. It's the one thing I dearly miss on PC. Then again, I can't save my life using a gamepad ...

Check out any video by a console player like Arelexxx. My vids all pause to select a target, but I just run away if a target is brittle for instance, and position my teammates at the beginning of the fight so that the archer is in front. This way, they're safe from Archer's Lance or Bursting Arrow.

One of the few that are nasty is Hail of Arrows. But, I just run if it drops on me.

We all have our playstyle, and I play with Tactics on Nightmare.
