So I got a new kick-ass computer a few weeks ago and for some reason I felt compelled to play ME2 again, installed it and lo and behold was struck by the PhysX error message. A bit of research revealed the fix: install old legacy drivers. I am not willing to downgrade my gfx card to play this 4 year old game. It's frankly absurd. I know this will never, ever happen given EA, but it would be enormously appreciated if they could patch up ME2 so it'll run on modern systems.

Sweet. Just discovered that ME3 also has this problem.

You have to install the PhysX-package. Mass Effect uses CPU-PhysX, which doesn't require a Nvidia-GPU or a specific driver version.

So it won't override my current physX if I install these legacy drivers? I should note that ME3 was working up until I installed the latest drivers on this computer.

Are you playing on Steam? Try registering the Steam codes in Origin and re-installing the games via Origin. Otherwise, just uninstall your PhysX driver and use the one that comes with ME2.
