Hello everybody,
I´ve read about ME 2 not letting you change the language. So you will be stuck with the language of your OS. I´d just like to know if there is any way to change the languages since I don´t want to be sitting at my computer drooling and realising that I can´t play the game cos it´s in german. Can say about the german language whatever you want but I can´t watch movies or play games in german. It´s sort of anti climactic. Every since a friend had to drag me to "Saving Private Ryan" in german I couldn´t stand both sides talking german. Just plain awkward.
And a friend of mine had the same language problem with Saboteur and was able to change it with a few minor changes in the registry. Just would appreciate any ingo on that topic before my copy arrives since I´m on edge about this.
Thanks in advance for any help.

No you'll not be stuck with the language of your OS, just change the language in the AutoRun and install the game in that language..
It should be the same as Dragon Age: Origins basically
I have not the game yet, but this (for PCs ofc!) was confirmed by a Dev which I PM'd a few days ago
I was struggling in fear that I had to play ME2 in Italian xD while I can luckly play it in English like I did with Dragon Age

thanks a lot. Now I can sleep again at night.
No worse thought than having the game in my hands and not beeing able to play it. So as long there is a way to select the language upon install I´m happy.

I have a different problem here:
After playing the game many times with the localized (German) version, I installed it now again in English, just to hear different voice actings.
In preparation for ME 2 I made several runs through the game. For some reasons I wanted the localized version back and reinstalled the game in German.
Now I have this problem:
None of my saves can be loaded. I receive the message
"can't be loaded because of missing module bring down the sky".
Of course I have the "missing module" installed, too. After this I applied the patch to 1.02 and anything seemed to be ok.
But now all my saves are blocked, unless I reinstall the English version.
Question: Could there be something in a *.ini which I can adjust myself?
I'd really love to finish my games to have the different Shepards ready for export respectively for a new run to level 60.

I'm not sure about ME 1, but just to add to the ME 2 question -
I've had the problem myself that I overlooked the option to change the language during the AutoRun intallation process, and then saw myself stuck with the German version.
I didn't want to reeinstall the whole game, and for anyone who's in a similar situation: if you open the 'sku.ini' file in the 'data' folder in your ME 2 installation directory with a text editor such as Notepad, you can change Text and VO by putting
TextLanguage=INT
VOLanguage=INT
... with INT being for English (FR French, IT Italian, DE German, SP Spanish etc. if you want to change it the other way 'round), without having to do a complete reinstall.
Sorry for digging up an old thread, just thought this might help someone as I was confused about it myself, not being able to switch the language in the game menu after installing...

It did help, thanks
After playing ME1 in German I started ME2 and was displeased. The narrator (codex) sounds as falling asleep any second and also a good part of the other speakers sound „sort of awkward“. Additionally they changed the pronunciation of half the names. In the written text I found in the first hour of playing more errors (e.g. wrong case) than in whole ME1.
So I changed to English .... and it's great. The voices seem to fit so much better. The conversations seem more fluent and so on ...
So if you have the choice between German and English and your English is good enough: do yourself a favour and play the English version.
