"Altus mages are reckoned to be descendents of the dreamers or magisters who possessed the ability to speak to the Old Gods in the Fade. The Old Gods are no longer objects of worship but the descendents of these powerful mages are still held in esteem and often are the most high-ranking mages in the Imperium; indeed the majority of magisters are Altus. Interestingly, there was a time in which these Altus mages were scorned for their seeming part in creating the Blights as the corruption of the Golden City transformed these mages into the first darkspawn. As a result, many such mages were slain during the period of Transfiguration when the Imperium became Andrastian. Since then, the Altus mages have returned to the upper echelon of Tevinter society."

Solas is consistently referred to as a mage who spends much time in the Fade. A dreamer. A lucid dreamer perhaps.

Is he talking to the Old Gods?
Do you think he could trigger a Blight?
Do you think he may be the one responsible for the alleged dragon that appears in the Fade (in DAI)?
Is this the controversial role he may play in DAI?

I don't think he could trigger a blight, but who knows. It's certainly an interesting thought.

He'd have to summon an Old God. I dunno. I wonder if he somehow ends up doing this?

Being in contact with an Old God does not in and of itself cause Blights. He needs to expose it to the Taint, and I believe that he needs to specifically expose its body to the Taint rather than somehow exposing its mind to the Taint either by Tainting himself or speaking to it somewhere that is Tainted.

The first magisters couldn't expose the first Old God to the taint because darkspawn hadn't yet come to fruition. The magisters became darkspawn after allegedly turning the golden city black, yes?

So I guess Solas would have to first become corrupted somehow.

Or Dorian, as the most recent poster pointed out that he's an Altus mage as well.

I wonder about the two of them together, teaming up to venture into the Fade/Black City.

He can trigger my Blight any day.

I mean-

To be honest, I'd peg Solas as some crazy ancient Arlathan Dreamer Uthenera elf before anything else.

Solas with an old gold looks fun but NO!!!!!

Solas, corrupted one, on the contrary, may improve his background. However, I'm sad that it is always elves that have the dramatic backgrounds... (Merril=blood mage)
