Not just that, but many people probably wouldn't see those videos in the first place had they been on other channels geared towards experienced RPG fans. All that would do is expose the game to the same people who already know and care about it. Most other people would likely never know those videos even exist, simply being on youtube doesn't mean you have universal exposure, there are still tons and tons of sub-communities that never interact or overlap with one another. So by getting people they do already watch and subscribe to to play the game and post videos and impressions exposes a new demographic to the game who otherwise would probably not know about it or give it a chance.
That said it probably would have been a good idea to spent 30 minutes or an hour demoing the game to them before hand showing them the nuances of combat, but I guess they want them to capture a raw and authentic look at the game.
Then give it to someone like FRANKIEonPCin1080p who at least knows how to play RPG's. They've given it to complete amateurs who don't even learn quick (shown by how not a single person even thinks of hitting the god-damn A button to perform a regular attack). I've seen comments in those videos where people are saying the game looks awful so it makes me wonder if those videos have attracted more people than they've alienated.
At the very least, those people should have been given instructions on how to play. Everyone wants to see good gameplay, even those non-RPG fans, I could only watch so much and I'm an actual fan of the franchise. I don't think it was necessary to capture a raw look for the gameplay especially for a new demograph.
After using the chain pull so many times, surely these players should have used common sense and figured out that it brings the rogue closer to the enemy and that's it and it's not an actual ability one should use to damage opponents. Apparently none of them are even paying attention to the numbers that float above an enemy's head when damage is dealt to see that the move does little damage and that it's really a method of getting the rogue closer to enemies quicker (with the warrior's version pulling enemies towards them).
Oh well. Hopefully within the next few weeks we get gameplay videos from people who know what they're doing.
