As the title says, I wondered what it would look like to have an interior area and an exterior area at the same time (that way, you would be able to see through windows, script cutscenes with NPC starting from the outside, entering a building, doing stuff inside [like stealing an important document, kill an innocent citizen, etc.) and go out...

Here's what I made as an experiment:

Farm from the outside. Notice the bridge at the right of the building.

View from inside. See that the bridge can be seen through the window? Also, look at the bottom right picture...

Of course, creatures from the outside could also see the PC inside the farm.

Why did I ask to look at the bottom right picture earlier? Maybe it's clearer now: what is this mindflayer doing here?

Did you have any camera problems when you entered the building?

That depends on what you call camera problems. I only use the character mode (because that's the only one that allows to see what's around you, and which has zoom capabilities), and it worked quite well. Of course, I had from time to time to turn around the PC, zoom in/out, but as far as I'm concerned that's usual. I also tried with Exploration or Strategy mode, and those won't fit (you'll see the roof of the house  only).

Anyway, for anybody who'd like to try, here are the links:

- placeables (extract in your override)

- module (extract in "my documents\nwn2\modules")

The doors are not included by the way.

To get it to work like an interior tile, I imagine you'd need to split the house into upper and lower models. The upper model could be set to fade in placeables.2DA, so you could see through the roof if the camera enters it in exploration mode. You could probably convert the roof model into an environmental object. The lower model (walls and floor) could be set *not* to fade in placeables.2DA, and could be kept as a static placeable. It would have to block line of sight to keep the camera inside the walls, and the floor would obviously have to be walkable.

Having the walls block LOS might keep you from seeing creatures through the windows properly. They should still show up as black silhouettes though.

Thanks for the tip Dann-J. I updated the contents accordingly, and now Exploration and Strategy modes (kinda) work too.

"kinda" because you still can't change the PC facing (so if the windows are on the left or the right, which is the case in the test module, you can't really see through them). But at least the roof fades when you're inside the building.
