I don't like aspects of the game from what I have seen from the footage

From all the footage that was released I don't think the game even looks remotely as good as I hoped.  they And no its not because the videos are low quality. From one of the videos I was wondering "this is the max quality pc graphics wth?". The textures look pretty bad. And its not just visual aspects. Some things that are weird are how enemies seem un alive, they yell something and attack  or just stand in place. There are no dynamic aspects to anything.

Furthermore, they couldn't get stuff right like the animations not getting in the way of character visibility. Too much flashing lights and the combat is way too fast to see what the hell is going on. I really hope its not spam abilities = win. The art style looks horrible to me, it looks nothing like what was shown previous, it looks too much like a generic mmo as in the quality of the art style is not that great even though its an sp game. Too much bloom.

The sound seems out of sync many times, for example the footsteps echoing sound really fake to me(I know they do that in real life but in the game it misses the mark on how it supposed to sound). The world overall feels empty, from lack of background music of any kind to the sudden random sounds (and not constant sound) makes the game seems very unimmersive.

Enemies, characters and attacking seems very stiff, enemies seem to just stand there waiting to be attacked. It looks like something games did like 5 years ago. Animations are all over the place. The game seems like an really old game underneath with a coat of paint on top. Normal enemies seem like meat puppets that have predefined paths and no dynamic aspects. Even how they walk towards you looks pretty bad. Attacking seems weirdly inaccurate and I don't feel there is even enough time to plan your next attack because things are going way too fast.

It seems like the game degrades more and more overtime. I thought the stuff recently from E3 wasn't that great but this seems even worse. I feel like I am looking at some korean mmo, even the looting system looks boring.

I have been a fan of da games for awhile, this just seems like it has taken no steps ahead of previous games while still making mistakes like putting too fast of a combat (instead of a middle ground between origins and da2) while it still retains some of the bad stuff from previous games.

Pretty extensive list. Sounds like you shouldn't play it?

I don't pay attention to any long gameplay videos, so I don't know everything you're getting into. I'll be buying it though. It's another DA game. I'm already a fan, so I'm sure as hell not skipping it.

Ya people will tell me its too late to complain but I really wanted the game to be good. I tried to talk about some things I didn't like before but we never had this much footage to actually know about the game. I feel like they diverged way too much from the original E3 demo shown a few years back. That one seemed like it had slower and more satisfying combat and wasn't too flashy as this game.

I think they tried to make it too much like action rpgs while mixing with tactical rpgs and did bad at both.

I've never been enthusiastic about what they showed of the DAI combat, but what I've recently seen does indeed not look better at all. I see people saying the attack animations now have "weight" behind them and all I could notice on my screen was characters waving and hacking with their swords until one of them dropped dead. Being hit appears to have no impact at all. DA2's perma stagger on my mage was awful but this is not much of an improvement.

Cassandra suddenly has female Hawke's horrendous jogging animation. Whut?

And I agree about all the flashiness. It's annoying and does not make the combat more exciting. I'm already bored with it after watching it for a few minutes, while I still have fun with DAO's combat.

I'll offer one opinion about combat. You should at least get a feel (by borrowing it or a demo, if they release one), just to see what a difference the lack of healing will make. It might not be super action heavy, like you think. You won't really know this just by looking at videos.

Do we know if the recent video is video of the final build or a demo build?

The fact that the the combat is so fast and unimpactful is in itself more actiony. I preferred the slower combat from the original demo but they did away with that in seems in favor of flashier combat. Just because u can't heal without potions isn't gonna make a difference during combat. The combat is the combat. Its only gonna change if you engage certain fights or not based on health.

I don't think thats an excuse anymore, this is likely the best they have to show otherwise they wouldn't show it a month before release. A month is not enough to fix these things, they are only working on bugs now.

It will get boring even quicker because there is less active abilities in this game then previous and you can only have 8 usable at a time

So you're just against fast pace on principle? Fair enough.

I just think you should get the feel of it. How it actually interacts with your mind and hands, etc..

You might be right, but you might not.

I would just wait to pass your judgments until the game comes out. You'll just sour the experience if you remain pessimistic and negative about it. Everyone Bioware fan should know that story always come first. Dragon Age Origins wasn't exactly the prettiest gem with exciting combat. Everyone looked past it for the most part because of what truly is the heart and soul of any Bioware game and that is the relationships you build with the characters and the journey your character goes through.

As for the "graphics issue" you brought up, that is very subjective. Alot of people like myself are thrilled with the new look. It's hard for them to go super crazy with texture size and resolution because they ARE developing for past and current generations. Also keep in mind that those were pre-alpha and alpha builds that we saw. There was still alot of tweaking to be done.

I hope you at least try it with an open mind!

You might be right, but you might not.

Yes but the gripe is that the enemies don't seem to reflect the attacks at all, they just stand there taking hits, its like NW2 but that game is really old. I would have expected enemies to stagger or show some kind of animation when taking certain hits.

All of this is subjective but I posted this because I don't think I am the only one feeling this way, I don't want these issues to be thrown aside. Thankfully origin has the great game guarantee so I can refund if I don't like the game.

Bioware knows they can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time.  I love how the game is looking.

Right. Maybe the OP's just not gonna like the game, so it's a good thing those videos are out there.

I'm lucky since I'm personally pretty much indifferent to this sort of thing.

I feel the same way except for the female walk/running animation...I love it..very female...how else am I to tell my character/companion is female in this when the armor hides that fact to much by making them look boyish....

Also whats with the teleporting when you attack? It looks really unnatural, even enemies do it. Da2 did that kind of thing much better.

Yes we only know someone is a woman by the way that person walks "some creepy hips breaking animations", if you think women walk like that, well I really got nothing more to say.

No offense but a few grainy videos on the combat is really not a good judge of how the game is going to be.

How about waiting to critique once you've seen it on your TV or monitor?

Also...if you are not happy don't buy it.  And as for the 8 abilities...I've played games with less than that.

You will adapt.  I think your one issue is that you don't like change.

Too much of the game seems like its a game from 2010 with some coat of paint over it, like the enemy reactions and lack of combat reactions/impact.

I expected more improvements and change. The combat looks copied and pasted from da2 which was one of my worst fears. I wanted a more balanced approach between the past two games. Not flashy combat like they have now and not origins slow combat either, there is a middle ground where combat feels a bit slower(without ppl teleporting everywhere) and responsive at the same time.

And grainy videos? They are far from grainy.

The other one got deleted cause people kept coming in and derailing the topic. Today I will report anyone that does such things including you.

I think that is not the problem at all, for example I liked DA 2 and DA:O but for DA:I I was expecting more fluid animations and combat, even the youtuber said they were clunky at times. They also put DA 2 animations without improving it, I would expect at least companions to walk differently and with personalty just like DA 2.

So no my problem is they did not change. Also the gameplay video from 2013 seems to have a lot better animations, lighting and effects which is strange.

This that demo was what got me excited now I just feel extremely let down. They literally changed every aspect from that version. I am gonna surprised if you can even burn ships and stuff anymore, they will probably throw that kind of thing as a gimmick that barely changes anything.
