I'd like to add myself to the people recomending Shadow of Mordor. The core gameplay is very Batman: Arkham-esque, but it has a few RPG elements (stat-ups, abilities, procs) and what they call the Nemesis system. Basically, some Orcs are high ranked and serve as procedurally genrated minibosses, with their strengths and weaknesses, and even custom names and appearance. The system is really deep and well thought out; if a random Orc kills you, you respawn but that normal mook will be promoted to a Captain in the meantime, and if you come back for another go they will mention ''killing'' you before. Random events, such as duels between two Captains where you can intervene (or not), only add to the organic storytelling goodness. It's really, really fun.
I hope Bioware and other RPGs developpers took a look at that system. Integrated in a bona fide RPG in some way, this could be an immensely powerful role-playing tool indeed.
However, fair warning, the game takes some liberties with Tolkien's lore. You won't find Hobbits with laser rifles or anything like that, and I wasn't too bothered personally, but absolute lore purists might cringe at some contradictions or additions.
EDIT: was also surprised by Wolfenstein: The New Order in a good way. It's a rock-solid FPS with a pretty decent story, and one of the few times a romance in a linear video game didn't make me cringe. Plus, in an era where almost every FPS has to be about self-important westerners killing russians or arabs, gunning Nazis on their moon base with laser rifle is such a breath of fresh air.
Speaking of lasers and moon bases, I might try out Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. But I'm not sure I want to pay 50$ for what looks like an expansion pack at best.

Shadows of Mordor. My Teamplar Inquisiter is going to feel so hobbled after playing as Talion.

There isn't really one game keeping me entertained. I am working on achievement hunting, and am trying to get a 30% achievement ratio on my Steam account (it was about 60% before the summer sale, and then... well, my wallet is much lighter, and Im at 18% now lol). So The Walking Dead s 1 and 2, The Witcher 2, Lego Lord of the Rings, Civ 5 (but I was over 50% already there), Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are the ones I am working on. I rotate through depending on what I feel like playing, and those games give me a pretty good base of (strategy, rpg, and shooter). But there are even some other off the wall ones I toss in on occasion.
I also write which is taking up the bulk of my time during the days.

WoW, Dangan Ronpa 1 + 2, Final Fantasy IX, Occasional forays into Dragon Age Origins and 2, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and the new P4 Arena. My game collection is pretty Japanese these days as you can probably tell, with some good fantasy games thrown in.

I'm playing The Evil Within atm, leveling alts in SW:TOR (plus doing conquest-related stuff for my guild), and am still engaged in the semi-mind-numbing task of memorizing kanji (and after THAT is one day done, I'll have to invest some serious time communing with my giant book of Japanese grammar
).

I've just downloaded DA:O for the PC (former console gamer) and am struggling to get to grips with the controls.
Otherwise my bff and I have been playing a lot of Minecraft, and, more recently, Civ 5 as we wait for DA:I.

I pre-ordered an Indiegame 'Season of the wolves' by Winterwolves and am thus playing a beta built and reporting errors I stumble upon one way or another.
Also, I'm working on a DAI cosplay.
And. I'll probably play Destiny again this weekend.
Starting 24th October thought, I think I'll be busy until DAI. Samurai Warriors 4 finally makes it to my ps4 and I have made certain nothing will interfere the first three days I have it. Just like I have free at the release of DAI >:3

Shadow of Mordor was good but the easiest game I've ever played.
Currently replaying the Assassin's Creed series. Forgot the first game was actually somewhat challenging, enjoying the old games. AC2 was just amazing, but, again very easy. Not sure when the new one comes out but I hope to finish these before then.

I just finished my first playthrough of Borderlands 2. There was just so much tedium in the game that I got bored after a few hours and stopped playing for days, weeks or months at a time. And even then I only finished it because I wanted to play Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep which suffered from the same problem. It started off well before moving from primarily story telling into mostly mindless killing. Maybe that wouldn't be a problem if I enjoyed the combat as much as everyone else who played it, but I think BL combat is pretty meh at best and there is way too much of it.
I haven't even finished BL1 yet, so finding out about the first vault being a joke came as a complete surprise to me.
